C & C Zero Hour Install Problems

I have a problem Installing C&C General Zero Hour. I have read the other posts, and none are similar to this one.

 

Firstly Im a bit of a windows Tinkerer. I tend to Tweak XP and disable a few so called unnecessary services, and I think this may be where my problem lays.

 

When I Insert the disk It autoruns, and I select Install. It then decompresses the files and a new window pops open, where you must click next to continue. When you click next, a new window should open, where a serial number must be inserted.

 

This Is the problem. When I click next, the screen gives a small flicker, and the serial box will not display, so I am unable to enter a serial to continue. Nothing else happens.

 

I have tested the disks on another machine with no install problems.

 

I have tried doing a fresh Install of Generals Itself, and even went to the trouble of trying a mates serial with the same error occurring.

 

I even tried Installing to the programs default Install directory, Instead of my usual games directory.

 

Ive been trying now for 2 days with no luck.

 

Please can anyone help me, or maybe give an inkling into what may be causing this.

You could be on to something there, so perhaps re-enabling these services may help. Then again I've disabled a few so called required services on my computer without problems.

 

If possible run the Zero Hour install on another computer (with Generals installed of course) to check that your Zero Hour CDs aren't duds.

 

Maybe you have some sort of background app running that prevents the installation from continuing. AntiVirus etc......

 

Post your full system specs, it sometimes help :wink:
