YEP..... WHEN YOU GO TO PLACE IT CLICK LEFT BUTTON AND THEM MOVE THE MOUSE THE WAY YOU WANT IT, EASY

In addition, if you have a scrollwheel on your mouse, you can actually zoom in and out of the map, and also, if you click down on it, you can rotate your view of the map any way you like. This can help you reveal hidden units sometimes, especially if they're hiding behind buildings or whatnot. It also lets you view the game from any angle, so if you're used to being on the right side of the map, then you can be.

FYI, rotating the building especially air fields to your enemies base actually can speed up your air attacks( at least they don't have to do the U- turn.)

So far only EA offer this kind of trick. You can position you base as you like it. It is part of strategy.
