C&C gold error "cannot read scenario!"

This really has me stumped. I downloaded the XP/200 patch and set the compadability mode to Windows 95 (since I'm running XP), but I still get this error message "cannot read scenario!" when I choose the GDI or nod campaigns.

 

Then if I choose to try a covert operation it says something similar to "Out of memory".

 

Now, my comp's top notch and not even half a year old, I know that's not the case. Could this have something to do with my Athlon 64 processor? I doubt it because Dune 2000 works fine without me even playing with compadablity modes.

 

Any help would be appreciated. Normally I wouldn't post about this, and merely lurk across forums and whatnot for someone who already asked the question, but I tried that and after searching for about an hour found one person with the same problem that got the usual link to the XP/2000 patch.
