Red Alert Sound Problems

Recommended Posts

Guest Crimson_Knight

Okay, I just installed Red Alert on my new comp (which has XP), using the patch from your site, which, thankfully, lets it work. However, I have a problem still: the sound is buggered. The background music is fine, and the mission briefings are (mostly) okay, but the in-game sound effects are screwed up: explosions, gunfire, Tanya's laughing, all of them so heavily distorted and static-filled I can't even understand them. I tried the different sound choices, but the only one it'll use is sound blaster, and the results are, like I said, buggered. Can someone help me here?

Okay, I downloaded DirectX, installed it, then restarted my comp like it said to. Is there anything else I need to do to get DirectX working? Cause that didn't work...

It also depends on your sound card - newer cards like the Audigy2 can have issues with certain older games. Unfortunately, there isn't mych you can do about it that I know of other than installing an older sound card. Sorry!
