Zero Hour Direct Connect Time Out

Hi,

Me and my friend have both just installed zero hour and it all works fine apart from direct conect. When we try and direct connect it just keeps coming up connection time out. I find this a bit strange because Generals itself direct connect works fine.

Im running AMD Athlon 1800xp, 256 DDR, Geforce 4 440MX etc etc.. I just cant figure out why it keeps timing out if generals works fine.

Any light shed on the matter would be much appreciated.

You have to open certain ports for Generals to be able to play. I don't know the ports off-hand, but check around to see what port Generals uses, or open up your own ports in your Firewall/Router and then inform Generals about which ports to use in one of the .ini files.

Ive tried all of that to get "normal" generals to run and only way i could resolve it was by setting my router up as a stand alone ethernet ADSL modem, which worked great in generals, But for some reason it does not work in zero hour. I do have a "real" ISP given IP address with all the ports open, but it just does not want to know.... may have to wait for a patch who knows...

If all else fails, try plugging your computer directly into the modem and see if you can play. If you can't, then it has to be a problem with Zero Hour rather than the Router. Give that a shot and see what happens.
