CNC RedAlert causing complete system shutdown

I was hoping someone could help. Whenever I play CNC Red Alert 2 or Tiderian Sun, my computer will randomly just shut off. It's as if the battery ran out, but it is fully charged. This never happens during any other program, application, etc. Any ideas?

 

I'm using a Compaq laptop, Athlon XP1800+ ,1523 MHz , 512MB ram.
