For anyone still stuck on Zero Hour: USA Mission 4 using Hard Level, here's some tips to beat it.

Start the mission, and build a fire base directely north (about 7 inches) above the right side of the vertical runway. Then put 3 rocket launchers and a sniper in the fire base, and that should take care of ANYTHING that comes down from the top of the map. Check on it every now and again to repair any damage with a dozer, but it probably won't have much.

Don't worry about capturing any oil wells except the two in the bottom right of the screen with you. The GLA will blow the crap out of any others that you take.

Also, put one sniper where the runways cross and stick him on guard duty, then put burton on the right edge of the map and stick him on guard duty, and put one more sniper in the tower on your side of the bottom bridge. They will help protect your base from those darn rebel attacks. You may also want to put a few extra random troops about to help finish them off faster, and provide other targets than your buildings. Immediatly repair any damage done by the rebels.

The middle bridge is where the S**T hits the fan in this mission. Build another fire base here (about 4 inches to the right of your bridge end) and concentrate all your units and time here. What you want to do is use your limited resources to build up a strategy center (turn on increased range) and tomohawk missle trucks. Once you have tomahawks in production, make as many as you can over time, and have some on guard and the rest force fire on the bridge at different areas. Once you have ten tomahawks there should be no problem as you can totally cover the bridge with sustained fire, be able to outrange the SCUD launchers, and anything that comes over the bridge can be cleaned up by the extra few humvees, and paladins you have there (along with the fire base, which they aim for BTW so keep clear of it with your units and repair it when that rare truck gets through the tomahawk barrage.

Here's the main thing that I found to help. You need to build up your generals points and get the 3rd power on A-10 strike (priority) and the 2nd or 3rd power on paradrops. The second you get your first 2 or 3 plane A-10 strike, you should hit the SCUD storm. You should be able to hit it twice with A-10's before it can fire once. After it's gone, they don't rebuild it! Then use the A-10's to blow up the radio tower in the town to the north. The paratroopers are used to make a giant cannon fodder wall at the southern bridge. Keep dropping them there so that the bomb trucks can't get to your two oil derricks.

Once you have that middle bridge secured with a slew of tomahawks, you are ready to beat the heck out of this mission, and all you need is one sniper and colnel burton!

Take them to the northern bridge and have burton go ahead and take out the SAM site. Let burton heal (he should be 2 or 3 star by now) Then bring up the sniper for support. Slowly move through the town by having burton move in, fire at a building, retreat, heal, and repeat. He can hit each building and destroy it, then he and the sniper will quickly clean up all the guys that pour out. Also the sniper will spot demo charges, so burton doesn't get blown up as he moves around the town.

Use any extra A-10 barrages you have to start taking out the base defenses (especially the tunnels which have a powerful army in them). Start with the right side of the base near the town and work your way left. Once you take out the two sam sites, and the tunnel here, you can easily sneak in colonel burton and hug the top mountain wall. Take out all the GLA buildings from here, and the rest is a cake walk. Just watch out for those demo traps! (And the random Jarmon Kell that is somewhere hidden on the map)

The key to this mission is extreme patience and lots of nit picking near the middle bridge. Once that middle bridge is secure, this map isn't really that tough. You don't need any of the CIA guys, but you may find them useful, and you don't need to capture any of the oil derricks across the bridge, unless you want the glory after you've beaten the crap out of the GLA.

Hope this helps, now can anyone tell me how the heck you beat GLA mission 5 on hard?!?!?!?!

There is one other tip that I've found to be extremely useful on this map. At the very, very beginning, send Col. Burton with two snipers directly up the Northeast bridge, and head for the radio tower. Use the snipers in buildings to sneak your way into the area, and keep the infantry at bay as Burton just shoots it. He'll be able to take it down quick, elminating much of the units coming at you. I've found that Burton, along with a sniper, or even some of the CIA agents that you can find, are extremely useful as you make your way into the East end of the base.

This made my time through the level much easier. Just a tip.
