Riparius 0 Posted August 19, 2006 I was thinking about getting a second Gf6800GS. Looked at my power supply and... yeah... no SLi support... Any recommendations for a SLi capable power supply, preferrably under 600W please? Share this post Link to post

Any recommendations for a SLi capable power supply, preferrably under 600W please? 1. You mean power is under SLi standards or doesn't have a second power wire for another video card? Mine has a second wire, it never said it could or couldn't support SLi but it can. So mine isn't 'certified' but it can. 2. Why go SLi..? One 7800 blows 2 6800 out of the water. SLi is just a gimmick... Its nice if you had the money, but its just that. 3. Why waste the money? Get DX 10 cards when they come, and they're coming pretty soon. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted August 20, 2006 TSBO, if you're running at an exceptionally high resolution, SLI can be a life saver. But yeah, for 99 percent of the people out there, single card solutions still really make the most sense. Share this post Link to post

Who cares if it's certified (okay, it would be nice if it is), but I meant that i have only 1 wire. 2. IF I would get a 7800, what am I gonna do with the ~280$ 6800? Cant just put it on a shelf to collect dust. 3. I bet the DX10 cards are going to be expensive as hell. At least in Estonia they will be (if they get here of course ). But can you recommend any good cards then? Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted August 20, 2006 Tell me whats wrong with the 6800.. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Hmm... do you know if current generation, high end cards will be able to pull off DX 10? Any thoughts? I'd kinda like to not have to upgrade my video card for a while.... Share this post Link to post
Riparius 0 Posted August 21, 2006 Tell me whats wrong with the 6800.. Nothing is wrong with my 6800, you said that a 7800 would kick the butt of 2 6800-s. So i'm wondering which 7800 would do it. If no, then i'll be sad... Share this post Link to post

Then why upgrade to any card? Sit tight and DX 10 cards when come out. (They'll be expensive till their competitor releases their card, so yah.) No. DX 10 is not something you can "upgrade" to. The card has to be made to support DX 10. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted August 22, 2006 No. DX 10 is not something you can "upgrade" to. The card has to be made to support DX 10. Yes... yes I know that. My question was whether the newer, current generation chips will be able to handle the DX 10 operations. That isn't unheard of... Share this post Link to post
