Generals stops and CPU shows 100% use

I have just installed Generals, game will play but every now and then it stops and the Windows XP task manager comes up with CPU 100% usage. Hardware spec is

AMD 2400+ Processor

768 RAM

NVIDIA GEFORCE FX5200, 128Mb, video, 53.03 driver

80 Gb hard disc

 

Hope this is enough info please help

Maybe you have to much applications running? you should try desabeling all but antivirus or firewall software when playing and i dont see that generals would use 100% of a 2ghz processor's power :!: have you tried installing the latest generals update? they are available at this site

Yeah I think Critical Impact could be on to something there. Download something like Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ or Spybot - Search & Destroy from http://www.spybot.info/ and scan system. I use both, they work great in tandem

 

You could have something installed on your PC hogging your CPU usuage. Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Windows Task Manager and have a look in the Processes tab for strange file names.

Thanks, have checked system no virus's, have installed patch, system far more stable
