Poor performance because of chosen map???

Hello,

if I play the map "Alpine Assault" in skirmish mode, I have no problems with all graphical enhancements at 1600x1200. But when I try another map, I got about 0.3fps - that´s really annoying, because the speed of the game won´t change when I turn down resolution and graphic details to 1152x8xx, but when it comes to 1024 the game runs like a rabbit...

I guess this must be a but or something, because with this symptoms it´s surely not my hardware that is slowing everything down!

My specs, by the Way:

WinXP running on Athlon 3300+, 1GB RAM@340Mhz, GF FX 5900, 320GB stripeset (defragmented)

Is it a fan made map? or maybe there are too many 3 way textures that are in the map that can have a huge impact on system performance

Your system specs are high-end and your machine should be capable of running almost every game on full detail without a hiccup

I get perfect performance with my machine though i did update it here are my specs now

Athlon 64-FX-51 3.0ghz Geforce FX 5950 Ultra, 512MB PC 3200 DDR SDRAM @ 400mhz and a 120gb 7200rpm Barracuda Hardrive and i get top notch performance to resolutions of up to 1280x1024 thats as far as a 17" monitor goes though your system should easily run generals on any map despite the extra polygons running in the game you have a very powerful card and processor so i dont see why it is slowing down :!: good luck! and Merry x-mas

Thanks for you answer. I just found out that if I move the texture-quality slider to the middle I have no problems at all. Seems to be like you said, that multitextures have huge impact on performance.

Since all other optic enhancing options are turned on and I can´t see any difference to full quality textures, I will live with it now...

But I´m still wondering though ;-)
