Can't star RA2 on XP

I've tried all the ways: install SP1, change compatible mode to Win95, Win98 and black screen whenever I reach the game menu. Actually, it's not a black screen but my whole sys halt and screen black out!!

 

Anybody can tell me how to fix it. I am seriously consider to reformat my whole PC (as it's a new one and so I installed it w/ an XP) and work on win98 again!

Dose your whole pc crash as in ctrl, alt, del dont work and the mouse dosnt move etc? maybe you should reformat your pc and reinstal xp if you do change your hard drive particion to NTFS which is alittle faster with xp than stardard FAT-32 your game should work after a re-format of your computer dose your pc meet the specs for the game?
