Theoretical question?

Recommended Posts

So, i'm wondering if it is possable to use the death weapon to spawn an additional unit, say.. have the Tesla Trooper spawn a conscript on death?

I know the weapon system can spawn additional units (i.e. in the soviet drednaut), but am unsure how to replicate this, or even if the system can be utilised to create an actual unit, instead of a placeholder "ammo" unit type.

if anybody is aware of a way to do this, i'd be appreciative, i've been thinking about this for a while and am as yet usure how to do so.

Theoretically, the idea is possible using the MakeInfantry tag in art. The weapon's animation calls the infantry but it will be a Brute or a 'civilian' unit (ie; one you don't control). While doable, it's not a great idea.

The Dreadnought, V3 Launcher, Aircraft Carrier and Destroyer ASW 'mode' are special case spawner weapons. They spawn an aircraft, which is the only thing you can spawn that attacks. Do not be confused with the Slave Miner because it uses Enslaves logic, which only allows an infantry to mine.

Yeah, I suspected that that might be the case, allowing a conscript to pop out of a defeated tesla trooper would have been cool, but alas.

Anyway, thank you for the info.

(and I had such... interesting plans... >_- )

Actually it is do-able. The only problem is...you need the RockPatch.

You can make a death weapon that spawns AND have it on your side b/c the new RP can do a Perma Mind Control. When the Tesla Trooper dies it can do anim w/ MakeInfantry and make it civilian, like Beo said. BUT In addition to this death weapon you make weapon do perma mind control in that cell and boom its yours again.

But as Beo said, otherwise it is not possible. Like I said...complicated.

Even with the RP, this would still be a nearly impossible feat. Even if you do spawn a new infantry, there's a good chance that the dummy infantry will not fire its weapon... nor can any unit mind control itself.
