Recommended Posts

Guest KFRMP

Hi,

I 'd ask me about there is a way to start CNC Zero Hour as Dedicated Server in Lan. Or somebody knows a link where I can download something similar to an dedicated server for CNC Zero Hour.

No - it's not possible. C&C Generals uses a peer-to-peer connection (same as every other C&C game ever except Renegade.)

Basically the two people's computers connect directly to one another, no server is involved except for the lobby and matchmaking for quickmatch for example.

Hmmm....

Im expected some server for yuris revenge i think so I thought maybe there is something similar to that for generals too....

I think eagames has to overwork the game at these point because you have a lot of trouble is you want to play a massive multiplayer game like 4 Players on 4 AIs . I dont know any maschine wich can handle a host and playerinterface for such a multiplayer session at same time. We have an 2.5 GHz CPU with 1 GB Ram here and also This Maschine cources an serious error 3 Players against 4 AIs.

It can not be eagames releases a game within its possible to start such a massive Multiplayer Session and you cant even play it until the end because you got errors before.

We tried everythin:

Killed all processes and releaases all RAM posible setted up virtual Memory to max (4 GB) but no way nothin worked. Everytime 3 Players fight against more than 3 AIs the game ends with crash or insyncronity problems.

But what shall we do...... wait for new relaese or play another game....

Off the top of my head you can have a game with upto 8 players - everyone has to have a decent computer or connection though.

There is no server for Yuri's Revenge - that is peer to peer!

I think EA forgot that it's possible for both players to have a firewall (in fact it's more common than not) and establishing a direct connection is near impossible. A dedicated server application would easily solve this problem. I for one would definetly start my own server, and I'm sure many people would be interested in this. Any game with online competing should always have the dedicated server application option, routers are so common now it's stupid not to.

A dedicated server for Generals is not an option, just as Chickendippers posted near the start of this topic, Generals uses a peer-to-peer connection.
