Chipset GMA 950 with C&C 3

Recommended Posts

I was curious if this would work well with C&C 3. I know that I can play all the games on The First Decade with no problem. Granted most don't require much video technology with the highest being Generals but even Generals plays well on high settings. When I play the Demo though for C&C 3 it is rather jumpy but I figure thats because its a Demo am I right? Just need to know if this chip set will work on the full version or not. Plus for whatever reason it tends to crash whenever I try to play the demo on anything lower than medium video settings.

Here are the required system requirements for the game in case you already did not know.

Required System:

Microsoft Windows XP

PC with 1.6 Ghz equivalent or higher processor

256 MB of system RAM

512 MB of system RAM for online play with 3 or more players

6 GB available hard disk space

8x speed or faster CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive (for the Collector's Edition)

64 MB GeForce3-class video card. The game only officially supports cards with ATI (Radeon 8500 or greater) and Nvidia chipsets, and the Intel GMA 900 and GMA 950 products. The GeForce 4 MX is not supported

Sound card with speakers or headphones

Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

56.6 Kbps or better modem for 1v1 online play

Broadband connection for online play with 3 or more players

DirectX 9.0c or above.

Here are my system specs:

MacBook with Windows XP service pack 2

Processor:

2GHz Intel Core Duo

Memory:

1GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Video Card:

Chip set GMA 950

Free Space:

20GB

Drive Speed:

4x

Direct X:

above 9.0

As you have discovered even though C&C 3 loads your current video card is not sufficient. Its in on board video and they are crap for gaming.

If you want better performance you will need to upgrade to a better PCI-Express Video Card, check that you have a PCI-Express slot on your motherboard. And another 512 MB of Ram would help as well.

MacBook? Is that a laptop? You're best option would be to build a desktop computer
