Dupl3xxx 0 Posted July 6, 2007 I cann't get Vista to start the installation of TFD. I have updated ALL drivers, MS updates and so on... I have read every topic out there (almoast) and no help, everyone else seems to get it to work. Comp: OS Vista CPU Intel Core 2 Due 2,4 GPU GFource 7100 gt 128 mb Ram 2x 1GB It have tested a less leagel version + a normal RA2 dsik, they worked flawlessly, but I prefer to be leagel (less problems) Any ideas? TheBlackOut 7 Posted July 6, 2007 Have administer status? On XP if you don't you can't install it. On 98 you can't even install any of the games because there is no such thing as that as on XP. Share this post Link to post
Dupl3xxx 0 Posted July 7, 2007 Yes, I am admin over my VERY OWN pc, bough mith MY money, and buildt with MY hands, so.... I think I might be admin, yes. And I have tryed to run "setup.exe" as "admin" [ot] (vista has so much securety, I cann't even start bitlord without 12543378 "are you shure you want to start this/do this)[/ot] Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted July 7, 2007 Does it give an error or does nothing happen. If nothing happens, does setup.exe or whatever at least show up in the task manager? Share this post Link to post
Hans5849 0 Posted July 7, 2007 Heres your mistake VISTA, go get XP. Side note I use a less than legal version of XP because my legal version makes me call MS every time I reformat. Share this post Link to post
Dupl3xxx 0 Posted July 7, 2007 I am testing if it starts in task manager. I know something is happening, 'cos the autorun-window (install-readme-website....) pops up! NO setup.exe in task manager (I did look at prosesses) @Hans5849 I know that is a way to do it, but my XP "dissapered" (along with 180GB instalers(leagel ones)) when my mother got mad and cut the power to my pc, while it was very active  And thanks for trying to help me! TheBlackOut 7 Posted July 7, 2007 Heres your mistake VISTA, go get XP. Side note I use a less than legal version of XP because my legal version makes me call MS every time I reformat. Uhh, there isn't a problem with Vista... Anyways, might I ask you if its 64-bit or 32-bit? Curious. And a less legal version, was it an .iso you mounted or did you burn it? It's technicallly legal if you bought TFD, just use the disc or iso you have and use the legal keys you have. Does Vista at least recognize the DVD on My Computer? I'd also recommend disabling that secruity Vista has, from the sounds of it's just annoying and for it's for novice users that get into trouble then when they get a virus they bitch about how Microsoft has a bad OS. Also might sound dumb, but you do have a DVD drive and not just a CD drive? My friend build a brand spanking new PC one time and ordered a CD drive, no DVD, he was pissed. Luckily he returned it and DVD drives are cheap. Also I googled and found this, I kinda browsed through it, but it might be some help to you. http://forum.eagames.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t...0773eb6db168efd Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted July 7, 2007 I'm guessing Windows Vista has the compatibility mode stuff that Windows XP has. Perhaps try that. Share this post Link to post
Dupl3xxx 0 Posted July 7, 2007 @TheSoVietBlackOuT Done that, dissabled ALL sequrety vista has. Compabiletymod in vista is an emty box, does nothing at all! I have two DVD drives, which both support the TFD DVD As said earlyer, I get the "pop-up screen" The screen incudes: Install View the ReadMe file Register your copy today EAsy System Info Exit It is the screen you get if you havent installed TFD yet. I have tryed it all. *hmpf* And http://forum.eagames.co.uk/vie...b6db168efd didn't help me at all, they all got trew the installprosess, that's where I'm stuck. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted July 7, 2007 Haha, that's like the best way I've seen security spelled before. Not bashing you but that's one of the funnier misspellings I've seen in a bit. So again is it your Vista x64 or x86? (x64 = 64 bit, x86 = 32-bit) Because I believe I read somewhere x64 version has problems with TFD. I'd e-mail EA while you're asking us too. And again, the illegal disc way works. It's perfectly normal and legal if you bought it but the DVD/Vista doesn't wanna cooperate that's not fair. (Though if you installed the illegal way without a hitch yet you can't work the physical DVD, kinda tunes out the 64-bit problem) What was the illegal way? Did you download TFD or just other single C&C games and installed them? Because if you just did the individual games, then 64-bit Vista could still be a definite possibility to your problem. (Sorry Sonic if you don't like the warez talk but if he can answer my questions about it, it can dismiss some theories I have) Share this post Link to post
Dupl3xxx 0 Posted July 7, 2007 From Norwegian to english: "This disc contains 32bit softwere only" Soo... I have 32bit Vista "home premium" I have RA2+YR from my local store + real TFD I got for my bithday. I am d/l a RA2 allie CLONE, 'cos I have my YR disk (my RA2 disk is gone) I Have the RA2 Serialz YR serialz + complett TFD Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted July 8, 2007 Lol ah, Norwegian, no wonder you English is like that. It's expected then. Well was the real TFD bought in Norway? Only thing I can really think of... And I'd still use the illegal TFD and put in your legal keys. It'd work that way. It wouldn't cause problems. Donno, maybe try it on a friend's or family computer just to see if it gets further than what you got. Share this post Link to post
Dupl3xxx 0 Posted July 8, 2007 Yes, the TFD was bought in no®way Is it that bad? Oh, and I have tested it on the very same pc that I am haveing vista, but then it was XP, no problems. And on my XP laptop, no problems. And I got my XP back, so now I will install it ASAP! (Vista has "removed ~120GB frm ony of my HDs, and cann't see a other one ) Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted July 8, 2007 Meh, problem solved then I guess. btw: Ever seen http://www.weebls-stuff.com/toons/kenya Going to Kenya? Norway.. heh. Share this post Link to post
Hans5849 0 Posted July 8, 2007 Vista has all kinds of issues running programs, that aren't "vista ready" I had it on my laptop and ditched it for a XP/Ubuntu dual boot. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted July 8, 2007 That's lack of drivers and crap. Nothing wrong with the OS mate. I'm bout to get it. 64-bit version if you got 64-bit CPU and 2 GB of RAM, Vista sails fine. Share this post Link to post
