Pretty strange, you're not having any hard disk issues?

Im startin to really get jackt off , yesterday i spent 8 count em 8 hours trying to have an online game, for the first time, first off all i update renegade, unsucessfull , dies at the patching screen at end of installation,,,and patch file dissapears... scratch that 20mb download. So i conclude that i need the 22mb patch on disk, seeing i have to reinstall the game quite frequently, i download it from here, it dies at file 16 of patching, scratch that 20 mb download, downloaded the patch again this time from westwood ftp site, OMFG that patch works and updates me to v1037 , cool waiting in lobby of gamespy for hours for a game, sum 1 finarry offers a game, i click link , and guess what... Game.exe does an illegal op  , GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR  i say, uninstall renegade and reinstall it, Now mysteriously the patch file has changed icons and no longer works....leaving me to download the 20 mb file again...

Im guessing this is an idea of some dimwitted fairy keyboard rooting westwood idiot to stop people from sharing the file?

Im really upset cos i badly wanted to play online, my isp is having a field day with my excess downloads.

Guess i should just give up and go back to red alert2, huh

PLEASE HELP ME IM GOING UNDER<<<DROWNING YOU

Do you have any problems with any the games?

Scan your system for viruses, spyware etc....

You said your system meets the requirements for Renegade, but post the full specs of your system here please.

Other things to try......

Do a complete uninstall of Renegade, search through the Windows registry for any references to Renegade and delete all values and keys you find.

Download the 1.037 patch (if you don't already have a copy of it) from http://www.cncnz.com/files/renegade/patches.shtml making sure you download the correct language version.

Now reinstall Renegade, then the 1.037 patch.

Forget about playing through GameSpy Arcade, when Renegade's setup asks to install it say no. Play through Westwood Online.

i have 160mb ram with a pII @ 400mhz 8) 4 gig drive thats 40% full

I have an 8mb matrox inbuilt graphics/display card , this machine was primarilly made to play dvd's at a good rate, when playing the game it plays fine , no errors even after spending 10hrs of playing :P its just after exiting, the game fails to start again, i get an illegal operations box/popup with game.exe, now if i explore the disc and click the setup icon, and setup the game again it only takes 5mins to install, instaed of the horrendous uninstall/reinstall time, it refreshes the exe file and my game will work again, i have no probs doing this every 5 or so games, that is untill i wanted to go online with renegade..

trouble is after i patch the game to play online and the exe decides to mess up , a resetup wont work because the exe has been modified by the patch, setup no longer recognizes it, and of course does not update it.

And the real pain is the patch file (22 odd mb) only seems to work once then its useless, after a complete uninstall reinstall of the game,(& manually deleting the remainder files) the patch file i downloaded still does an error and wont patch.

SOrry for my distance in reply i was extremly busy, What i mainly need is a copy of the patch/files (v1037) for online that wont go bad, i will burn it to disc b4 installing it,because im sure it renders itself useless after one install(patch 1037) that is...

Thanks for your interests in my dilemma, i really want to get to play online, it looks mad, been an avid c&c junkie for a long time now.

Let me say though im very convinced that my video card being half required size is not the stem of the problem, the game plays fine, ive spent many hours conquering the missions without one in game issue, its just getting the damn thing to work everytime.

Open the registry editor. To do this go to START -> RUN -> type regedit. With the registry editor now open make sure that My Computer is selected in the left pane. Now go to EDIT -> FIND -> type Renegade. Keep searching through the registry for references to Renegade, remove all these keys from the registry. Reboot the system.

i tried that found some things and deleted them kept searching untill it finished, unin/rein the game and no luck, b4 the patch even does anything it says it is in invalid patch file, but i only just downloaded it from your site.I think ill give up, the only way i see it working (the patch)is a format of the hard drive, which is going to be wonderfull everytime the game wants to up and die, :(

Btw got my butt into gear and made a profile *strut *strut

Im no longer Guest.

Is there anyway to spice up the multiplayer practice game? seeing it looks like my only way of checking out renegade.
