The high ping bug

can anyone tell me how to get rid of the high ping bug.

evertime i log in i saw everone was in red ping but it was me with the bug, each time i join i get kick.

Play on local servers. Or play people who are near you.

 

Another fix is just getting a better connection.

If the problem has only just started to happen today it could be problem in your part of the world to do with how your ISP connects to in Internet.

 

I don't play Generals Online so I don't really know how the whole thing works.

get adsl if you dont all ready have it or dont play againt more than one other player .

actually, it doesnt have anything to do with the internet connection.

I for one, have cable, and everytime i play ra2 my ping is always red. but when i play Medal of honor allied assault my ping is always in the hundreds. or return to castle wolfenstein.

since the msblast virus many ISPs have started blocking ICMP ping requests (which C&C uses) so they give you a high ping when you get on. Its all on EAs website. so they are aware of this but have done nothing. Typical EA support. I to am experiencing this problem but have not been able to find a solution. this is very frustrating and makes it very difficult to join a game. EA needs to use an alternate way of finding pings like MOHAA does or something cause I always have a fine ping with that. I have a 1 meg wireless connection EA needs to stop mass producing games and support the ones they have out. They need a good reliable online code like Blizzard has. but anyway enough about that.

Simply put, you have a firewall. For some reason users with firewalls have 1000 ping. Just say you have cable & a firewall (or 'fw' - abbrev for firewall) when you enter the game and if the player is not a n00b they will understand.

its not neccesarily because of a firewall it can be because of icmp ping requests I dont use a firewall when I play. And yes there is nothing you can do about it because your isp is the only one with control over whether they accept or deny icmp ping requests from reaching your computer.
