Patch 1.09

Recommended Posts

Nah, I liked it better back when it was first released, when you could just pump out unnumerous amounts of scorpions (while upgrading them)....

Infidel... Tank spamming is most certainly not the best option! Your spam must consist of a mixture of all of the Brotherhood's units.

And still, u only use avatars...

Yeah, I know what you mean. The SP needs a little tweaking now.

speaking of tweaking... because I was stuck in the gdi hard mission. I restarted the nod campaign.

here's a funny tweak that needs to be looked at. One of the Nod mission objectives is to build a shredder turrent, but on this mission you start with only an emmisary... and due to previous patches - you can no longer build defensive weapons from your mini-mcv!

About 90% of the way through the mission, I realised that you could actually build a 2nd mcv... so then I was able to build the shredder turrent and the anti-tank turrent after that.

LOL!

(I'll have to write down the mission names and PM APOC... get someone to wander through the SP with the current patch and tweak it some more!)

Sorry for the double-post, but it's kinda related.

I'm totally stuck with the last mission in Nod campaign, I can't work out if it's a 1.09 patch.

By the time I take out the juggernaughts, GDI is sending groups of 5-7 mammy's against the scrin, followed up by 20-30 apc's, predators, and pitbulls in the next wave.

Can you guys redo the mission and give me some tips, because I just can't find a sufficient strategy to defend poor ol scrin from the nasty GDI.

More importantly - where are the snipers that the juggernaught is using to attach the scrin base (I could never find the answer in google search).

I did that mission again in 1.09, I did all of them, cause I was bored.

There are no snipers, those juggernauts have "infinite" range. Anyway, I find securing the bottom is reasonably simple, just expand to blue and spider to the juggernauts and plonk down some obelisks with rockets and anti infantry.

Then I do the usual thing, and push north, killing the Scrin off and expanding to that green field near the top, and plonking down a **** load of obelisks and rockets and avatars by that stage. Though I noticed that it was much more difficult moving north and securing that green patch, GDI just seemed to keep coming. But they falter eventually.

Then its GG for the computer.

just lost a long post... have to retype it now.

re: campaign

did you do gdi as well? I got stuck with one mission (the one in the demo).

re: snipers

it's funny - I specifically remember killing a sniper the first time through the game. I always planned to redo the mission and kill the sniper first, but my early detection units would always get killed by scrin defences, and gave up. I never saw a sniper this time, so maybe the scrin defenses got the sniper? (I always realised the juggies were keyed to allow me to kill the whole map, but I expected the snipers to actually exist!)

Funnily enough I also was able to get through on my first go today, using a save from last night. I was getting stuck trying to form a choke point on the northern road, whilst eradicating an earlier wave of 5-6 mammies that is already attacking the scrin base.

Somehow my rear-guard action was able to take out the first gdi forces and my choke point abovee the juggies against the 2nd tank wave held.

From that point everything else was academic.

But there wasn't many options online, so I'll share my humble efforts...

1. build a 2nd refinery, and 2 harvies

2. use harvies to crush any infantry attacks (don't build obby's --because no tanks ever attacked)

3. tech up to tech lab and secret shrine to build a commando

4. build 10 rocketeers and 5 engineers and emmisary; upgrade infantry

5. use commando to take out zone troopers and juggies. (use garrisoned building at base of juggies to defend against infantry wave and help rank up)

5. depending on the pathing 10 rocketeers would attack 2 mammies near blue tib field.

6. survivors would be move north above juggies, used to defend rear-guard action in scrin base.

7. build expansion near blue tib field for between base and juggies, and refinery, and build 2 more hand of nod's

8. Pump out an infinite amount of rocket soldiers to defend choke point against northern gdi tanks, divert some if necessary to help rear-guard action

9. build nuke

10. captured juggies first take out 2 gdi airfields, then sonic towers above juggies.

11. using air unit of your choice, scout out northern base and take out buildings one by one, priority targets were the war factory and refineries

12. pretty soon nuke is ready to decimate northern gdi base, and finish off

13. the elite commando is micro'd to defend against infantry rushes, and once you're settled, use the air unit of your choice to scout out southern gdi base and take out crane and barracks or you can do this before the northern base.

once either side start to build SW's I'm already established and the game was already over, the AI just didn't know it.
