C&C Zero Hour wont connect online

Recommended Posts

I used to play CNC Zero Hour on my computer fine, but now whever I try to connect to online with my account and stuff, it says "Cannot connect to the CNC Generals Zero Hour online" or something like that. My internet works fine, I play other games on the internet all the time. I also play on another computer that is on my router and it works perfect.

My computer used to run it and now it wont, I've tried reinstalling it twice and it did nothing.

What happened exactly is: I was playing fine for a week or two, then I tried playing again and it would join a game then completely lag out and I could not move, and I would have to CNT ALT DELETE. So, I tried reinstalling it and now it does this....

Here is the scoop.

I have not found a way to completely fix this issue, but I can tell you how to make multiplayer online games

possible if you encounter this issue. I have done this many times and it works ever time.

The issue has something to do with multiplayer and single player settings. Once you open a single player game,

and then try to connect to a multiplayer online game and get the error message "Could not connect to Generals

Online". Use the following steps to fix this problem. You will need to do this each time you cannot connect and

you will be fine.

1. Be sure the game is not running.

2. Open "My Documents" folder

3. Open "Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data" folder.

4. Locate the "Options" file (Options.ini - shows as a "Type" of "Configuration Setting")

5. Delete this file completely

6. Start the game and it will rebuild this missing file.

Note: I don't know if the "Options.ini" file holds any valuable stats for single player. GameSpy holds the stats

online so those will not be lost or effected.

Hope this helps, I know I spent countless hours trying to get the damn thing to work. Now it works ever time!!!

Repatching?

I had the same problem, my problem was solved by patching it.
