Sonic 296 Posted January 8, 2008 The first APB Dev Blog of the new year has been posted at the Red Alert - A Path Beyond site, well more specially it was posted in their forums, but you get the idea. In this new blog we get the low-down on the plans for the third patch (version 1.3.0). This update will address some of the nagging issues like the score system, introduce some new maps and more. Another topic covered is the current servers/XWIS related problem. Apparently the APB team and many players are not happy with XWIS. It causes problems, while its fine for Renegade, its the opposite for Red Alert - A Path Beyond. Anyway, click here to read the full blog. Share this post Link to post
sith_wampa 6 Posted January 8, 2008 Aha!! Those XWIS infidels were the source of our server crashing miseries! I should have known... Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted January 8, 2008 I guess Chronjam or Drunkill could answer this.... If I connect using the new APB Launcher, essentially bypassing XWIS, but then XWIS has a problem it still effects me even though I directly connected to the APB server? Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted January 8, 2008 I think XWIS does affect the server even if you don't go through XWIS. It provides backend support or something like that maybe... or I could be totally wrong. Share this post Link to post

If I connect using the new APB Launcher, essentially bypassing XWIS, but then XWIS has a problem it still effects me even though I directly connected to the APB server? Sorry for the late reply >_< Yes, the launcher directly connect to the server, bypassing WOL/XWIS. SO if someone connected via the server listing ingame (xwis) it's look like maybe 2-3 people were playing (direct connections don't show up on the server listing) But it appears the servers will shutdown when wol/xwis goes down, which is good in renegade, because you can't play if wol is down, but seeming APB only has a few servers and you direct connect to them it's just annoying for everyone to get booted and the server to restart At least i think that's what happens, i'm not 100% sure. We had a plan to create our own version of wol/xwis but it fell through (mainly because we'd need a server that is always up to show server lisitng etc, plus a lot of extra coding) Share this post Link to post
