Command and Conquer Original Network Crash?

okay so my friend and I tried playing C&C on the network and 4/5 games crashed? is this normal? I mean has everyone else experianced this is there a fix?

I think - For C&C Original I installed the network fix patch and the C&C First Decade 1.02 patch, i went to that link and there are a whole bunch of patches available. do you have any suggestions as to which I should install?

first of all... make sure you have installed BOTH the 1.01 and 1.02 patch. They fix different things, and the fixes of patch 1.01 are NOT included in patch 1.02. IF you have problems installing 1.01, uninstall 1.02, and then install them in the correct order.

 

 

 

As for the fixes & patches, install them in this order:

 

-TFD TD/RA1 Full Cleanup, to free up some 800 Mb of wasted space

 

-Unofficial C&C95 1.05 patch, which fixes the 'edge crash' bug & gives native XP cmpatibility

-Stealth Crash patch, which fixes a crash related to the stealth animation

-C&C95 NO-CD patch, which allows you to start C&C95.exe directly without needing the TFD launcher

 

And, if you want, the C&C95 High Resolution patch, to run your game in 1024x768 res. I've tested it in multiplayer, and it causes no problems when playing games with people who don't have the patch

Though for that one you better make a copy of your C&C95.exe (like, call the copy "C&C95HiRes.exe" and apply the hi-res patch to that one).

 

And of course the network fix, but you got that and since it isn't an exe hack it doesn't matter when you do it.

 

 

 

And if you got a lot of friends to play with... download the C&C95 Special Options Enabler and make them all enable the 6-player LAN option

(normally C&C only supports 4 players)

Of course, to play LAN games, it's much easier to apply all exe patches (1.05, stealth, nocd, hi-res, 6-pl-LAN) and then give the other dude(s) the fully patched .exe file
