New Zealand Release of Red Alert 3 Delayed
drunkill replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Playasia.com is pretty good. Although yes, shipping might take upto a week But You'll probably save about $20 when buying the game off of them. -
This. It wouldn't work well as a movie either. A miniseries perhaps covering one of the games. But it would either have to be a war movie (follow a squad or whatever) or a diplomatic type thing. Sooo yeah. I'll stick with battlestar galactica for the awesome war/drama series

Unreleated. But a couple of people seem to be having trouble signing upto the forums. Someone made a post about cncnz over at a path beyond. http://www.apathbeyond.com/forum/index.php...mp;#entry356989 Apparently the security code thingy is broken.

It was in our bug reports area, so i guess you have to be logged in to see it. Here's what the topic said. Posted by phantomdentist The only other reply was by Srowell3 who said:

It was mostly made up. Seeming Westwood just took the name and added it to the third side. There are more then enough houses or people to crate a better third side if the ordos are not to be used in a future game. Although depending on the game, subfactions or other groups would probably work better then a whole new team.

I dunno how an FPS would work out too well in the 'original story' by Frank Herbert. But it'd make more sense (gameplay wise) to be set during the Butlerian Jihad (dune prequels) against Omnius and the Titans. Either a sort of FPS/RPG game could work or a Space Simulator/shooter where you are a League Pilot against the Machines. While I enjoy the original story, most of it wouldn't make a great game except possibly the first book. A Mass Effect type of RPG/Shooter could possibly work pretty well if done right. Again, it depends on the setting. Being a fremen, while awesome, wouldn't probably give enough story or gameplay to the player. Being a bounty hunter or a slaver might be cool.

I bought this for my brothers birthday about 3 weeks ago. I've played about half of it (I think) as i'm starting to re-visit locationas. I'm currently at Raxus Prime again taking It's a pretty good game but the combat gets repetitive after awhile. I can see why they had to boost the force powers so it felt fun. not just chucking a guy or two at a time. But totally ruining peoples days. Sadly they took out the 'gore feature. You were going to be able to slice people up with the lightsaber but now it's just like a crappy baton which you hardly use directly (throwing it and slamming it into the ground is way better then going upto people and dueling them) I just don't like some of the motion capture either. The walking in cutscenes kinda suck and looks a bit forced and the lipsynching is pretty horrible as well. But apart from those points the game is quite solid, runs well and well, the soundtrack is pretty awesome. Can't get enough John Williams. 'specially when you battle That was a pretty awesome moment in the game. No doubt there'll be a 'sequel' game with similar controls. Hopefully another one set just before Order 66 would be cool. The gap between 3 and 4 has a lot of room for stories. The original series is good but it'd have limited stories for games these days. seeming there've already been over 100 star wars games to date. Or, a proper Knights Of The Old Republic 3, not an MMO =( [/rant]

I've got a bunch of hard drives in various states of aliveness around the house. About a dozen all up. WD's have been pretty good to me, none of them dying, just getting too small or old for my system. A couple of seagates have failed on me but I've been able to recover stuff from them. Although one of my 250GB seagate has been running for a few years now with no worries. As long as it's under warrenty it doesn't really matter, just a pain in the backside when you have to deal with it.

Nope. I doubt EA holds the rights to any dune games anymore. Depending on the license Westwood had, they might have the rights for any dune RTS games. but 2 other dune games have been proposed and then canned since Emperor: Battle for Dune. The latest attempt was a Dune based MMO which fell through. That company went bust but the parent company (a french one) may still hold the rights. So I guess dream catcher hold the rights to Dune video games, if they have not expired yet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dune_computer_and_video_games A Dune 2000 remake would be neat. Dunno about it being a 3d game. 2.5d isometric would still be enjoyable. Even though Dune 2000 is just a remake of Dune II. More live action videos would quench my thirst for dune. Perhaps a new Dune game will be made to tie in with the new Mini series being made in 2010.

drunkill replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Thanks for the news Sonic If anyone here doesn't have a beta key, feel free to join in. -
Sadly KOTOR III will be an MMO =( Might be okay, but because it's an MMO it'll be open ended I suppose, no story with an end D: I want THis for PC, make another Republic COmmando game as well, that rocked.

drunkill I've seen a few people over the last week or so of beta'ing, hopefully i'll see more in the future
-
The wait will be worth it. Hopefully they'll be able to add in a ton of things with an extra year of development.

Thanks for the news Sonic. Hopefully some more C&C mods can get into the top mods of '08 with the release of Tiberium and Kanes Wrath this year! -
Sorry for the late reply >_< Yes, the launcher directly connect to the server, bypassing WOL/XWIS. SO if someone connected via the server listing ingame (xwis) it's look like maybe 2-3 people were playing (direct connections don't show up on the server listing) But it appears the servers will shutdown when wol/xwis goes down, which is good in renegade, because you can't play if wol is down, but seeming APB only has a few servers and you direct connect to them it's just annoying for everyone to get booted and the server to restart At least i think that's what happens, i'm not 100% sure. We had a plan to create our own version of wol/xwis but it fell through (mainly because we'd need a server that is always up to show server lisitng etc, plus a lot of extra coding)

drunkill replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Thanks for the news Sonic. So far we've had lots of new faces and hopefully that'll continue during the next few days after Christmas. Gamershell has an australian mirror, so NZ'ers will probably get a pretty good speed on it. I hope everyone has fun and safe holiday season -
Thanks for the news sonic good job

Hm, I couldn't edit my post, so i'll just make another. It was slightly updated, here's some new effects our talented staffer, Fabian has been working on over the past few days, with more to come. They look stunning as images, but the smoke in motion is amazing. Post Edited by Admin - Don't post large images causing the page layout to get messed up. Create a link to them instead. This is covered in the forum rules.

Thanks for the newspost Sonic. Hopefully we'll have the patch out by the weekend, it's got a few more things to go in it and for the testers to see if everything works. 8) cheers.
