  1. Well, I suppose it has been an easier job the past few years, given the lack of games. So much for the second decade of C&C... lets see what the third holds. RA3 is 7 years old today as well. Keep up the good work guys, not many C&C sites left these days.
  2. Happy 20th C&C fans. So many great memories. I wonder if (m)any of the old Westwood staff know about today, probably not, but they should be proud.
  3. "We simply didn't anticipate the level of hostility we've seen from BHP." I think you did... (and if you are wondering I have only shown three people these, two of them CNCNZ staff (Sonic & Banshee) when they were inquiring about the ethical nature of the database theft during the debate on these forums last week, OWA or yourself can talk to me if you wish to discuss releasing these to the community to clear things up) Sounds like a plan.
  4. Great read. Sadly nothing new in the game pipeline to celebrate 20 years.
  5. This is neat, I've been dabbling with mapmaking for Grey Goo, actually making some RA1 maps so this tool would actually be useful to play around with landscapes. Neat.

    W3D Hub Launched

Chronojam was in charge of RA/APB back when BHP was founded, it was Crimson that owned the domain name and redirected www.apathbeyond.com to Aircraftkillers portfolio website. This is a different matter. This is stealing a database instead of creating new forums from scratch and importing some certain topics or subforums if required, which no doubt would have been done willingly if there was a discussion about the split, instead of a cloak and dagger operation. Specially waiting for nighttime in Australia so the BHP webmaster would be asleep. I have seen the posts of the discussions of how all this was to happen on the W3D staff forums, don't try to justify your actions which you knew were childish and wrong.

    Addressing the Generals 2 Rumours

Considering Victory Games is a new studio they might be changing the name to bring it under the Bioware brand before release. Bioware isn't just the old stupid who made KOTOR/Mass Effect 1, it's now several teams as well as several studios. I could see EA rebranding victory games early (because they have a title to thier name) This could be it.
  8. Hahaha, Channel 9 news intro, damn that's old. Also, they'd land in Darwin and that half of the top end, larger military bases in the area and a port for a beachhead, then deal with the east coast up cape york/townsville airbases and the eastern seaboard. Still, pretty cool menu video.
  9. We've got this image too, if you want to replace the one in the news post. A little bit more informative. But it's fine if you don't. Thanks for the shoutout guys. CNCNZ is great.

    CNCNZ.com Celebrates It's 13th Year

    Happy belated 13th birthday!
  11. Yeah, this looks like it could be quite interesting. If only DICE made a C&C game after battlefield 3. Ahh. I can always dream
  12. Maybe so, but it's still fun to play and quite popular. We have pushed the limits of the engine quite a bit (with the help of Tiberian Technologies using scripts 4.0) and our assets have much more detail then stock renegade does. There have been numerous talks of engine changes, but the fact is, most of us developers don't have super awesome computers, so half of us wouldn't be able to start working on something such as UT3. And then it would take quite some time importing assets or remaking assets to the new engine. Let alone coding the same style of gameplay. Sure, we could do something with Renegade X with the new engines. But we find a lot of our playerbase also has low-spec computers and enjoy being able to run this on almost anything. Anyway, perhaps in the future it will change, who knows.
  13. We've got our new release out the door after quite a long time testing and tweaking gameplay. http://www.apathbeyond.com/ Head to this thread on our forums for changelists, download mirrors and other details: http://www.apathbeyond.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=22423 So download the new version, jump on a server and lets crush those capatalists!
  14. No, nominate all the C&C mods! We need to beat out those hl2 mods this year
  15. The point of the shot was to show the several raptors approaching Galacticas flight deck. The camera just happened to change direction with the kodiak in the background. One of many fleet shots in the show. Not the first easter egg but one of the last.

    C&C Community Modding News Updates

Just letting you know that we've got an ultra mega mega blog up at APB. Mainly detailling changes for the next version and a few screenies thrown in. http://www.apathbeyond.com/forum/index.php...st&p=370454
  17. Pretty much. The soundtrack is on the bonus dvd of the premier edition, basically all those videos are, including the bloopers and such. I guess they are just saying it'll be slightly more quality (which doesn't really matter IMO) one extra short video and well, just hyping it up for the PS3 people.
  18. hahahaha Oh geez, that's pretty lame. Holly Valance, hah. Neighbours is such a rubbish show, I wish the UK stopped liking it so they could finally axe it over here. She was in that DOA movie which i was forced to watch onetime, pretty stupid and recently she was in Taken, the Liam Neeson (Qui-gon gin, Players father in Fallout 3) but was pretty much playing herself, a singer who needed bodyguards. Malcom will be awesome no matter what he does, holly valance, well, I'll try block it out.
  19. It'd be good if they chucked this on the xbox 360 marketplace as downloadable content. for a couple of hundred points you can downloads the mission pack. Shouldn't be too hard to port over.

    What to get in 2009

A little late to the party. My list: First off, Fallout 3 downloadable content. I'll be grabbing the three packs of DLC for the xbox360 when they come out. Should add a lot of extra content to the game and provide more hours of enjoyable gameplay. Mafia II: Mafia was an aweosme game, a little buggy and pretty old now, but it had a great storyline and was one of the only alternatives to GTA in the 'sandbox' genre when it came out. The music was very nice as well. Mafia II will be expanding on all aspects of the original game with fresh faces, a new setting and new stories. The updated graphics will really help out with this game, making the city seem even more real and alive. If the original was anything to go by, Mafia II might just be singleplayer game of the year '09 Call of Duty: Infinity Ward edition (Modern Warfare 2, apparently) CoD4 was great, a nice step back to the CoD1 and CoD2 days after what had been filled with junk by other companies (all those console spinoffs) and CoD4 being set in modern times let the story evolve away from the nazi killing and focused more on the british side of the story, not always the patriotic american missions they had to cram into the WWII games. CoD4 had some memorable moments during the missions, mostly on th edge of your seat so I can't wait to see what IW does for the sequel. edit: Both Mafia II trailers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A20MT9Oz2s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMcK3p-UTZI

    are these good games

I own both (actually won gears 2 from a local radio station, w00ters) Me and my brother are about 3/4th of the way through Gears of War 2 campaign. If you liked the humour and mindless chainsawing in the first game, Number 2 is pretty much a shoe-in to your games collection. It's pretty much more of the same with some extra silly plotlines thrown on top and cheesy moments that scream awesome-ness in your face as the heros spout one liners while killing enemies. It is pretty much just more of Gears 1 with better graphics and a couple of new weapons thrown in. But from what I hear there is no rail-shooter segment (not quite) like those weird mine carts in the original game that got annoying. Multiplayer is pretty fun with lots of new modes and game types to play. Although for a month or two it had crippling issues with the game lobbies and matchmaking. Which could take upto 5 minutes to find a team to play with. I think it's patched out but I don't have a gold membership anymore so I'm not sure if it was fixed as of yet. Fallout 3: I'm a fallout fan, so i've been following the development of this game before this game was even announced (there was another game which was going to be fallout 3 but it never happened) If you liked oblivions open world and huge areas to explore, you'll like FO3. Thats pretty much how the world is. It is a good game but it's still an RPG, not an FPS, as stated above. If you do try to play it in real time (without using VATS, auto-targeting system) it probably wouldn't be very good, as all bullets are effected by chance, meaning they won't go where the crosshairs are, unless you have very high skill in those weapons. The mainquestline is sorta short and people think the ending is lacking (even though it has 6 different endings, based on if you are good, evil or neutral and depending how you play it out) and the game does end at the end (no more playing, game over) but you can easily go back to a save an hour or so before and just not replay the last mission(s) There are a few other sidequests and a ton of locations to explore. The main draw for FO3 will be the three DLC packs being released over the next 4 months. The first coming very soon which will add a new singleplayer campaign set in alaska in a virtual reality type of simulation. Apparently adding around 4-6 hours of gameplay. Two other DLC packs will add even more content in the future. So support for this game will last for awhile. Summery: Both are good games, at least give them a shot but they might not be your cuppa tea. Play for a few hours and see how it goes. Enjoy.

New "The Red Alert" Mod Renders

It's more of a gameplay orientated mod. But the models and textures are fine. They do what they are supposed to do

Red Alert 3 Reviewed by GameSpot

Pretty good read. Sadly it seems the first patch that's already out fixes the co-op invites. Pity they didn't get it in the review version of the game.
