Kane's Wrath Epic Units Preview at IGN
TheRoadToDawn replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Yeah. Too bad GDI just couldnt stick to mechs. Now I got to decide whether to follow the Avatars of Nod or go back to old-school GDI Mech Tech. -
I pray too. LoL I just thought of using the classic RA2 Hud, images, and look alike buildings and units to give a sense of representation to the RA Universe. Unfortunaltly I took the screenshot in the RA max 800x600 resolution and i cant figure a way to Resize the image without stretching everything. Thats what happened to my entries into the Tiberium Wars wallpaper contest. lol I'll be working on them and more. Dont want to use the RA mods for the other games without their permission so im stickin with whatever Westwood and EA released. Cant wait to see some RA3 screenshots tho. Edit. OMG. AFTER ALL THIS TIME ITS WAS PHOTOBUCKET THAT HAS BEEN REDUCING THE SIZES OF ALL MY WALLPAPERS!!!.....Go Red Alert 3!!! Could anyone help me with this delima?
-
Cant wait for the annoucement. And to show my good faith for this game I made an ingame wallpaper. Some of you will ask how I could do this. Look it over with sharp eyes. 800x600(will try to get a bigger screenshot capture, resizing on my art programs s**ks, literally) 800x600 *Edit: Sorry photobucket messed up resoultion. 1280x800 *Edit: Sorry photobucket messed up resoultion. Why would you think that? It was a good game, I just figure the Tiberian and Red Alert Universes are the future for C&C. But im not saying they wont come out with another Generals. Maybe after RA3 passes by.
-
Wow. Kinda like the GameInformer cover better. lol
-
But I just cant help the previous Red Alert 3 annoucement. It was Mark Staggs that annouced that Red Alert 3 would be developed but then it was assumed canceled when Tiberium Wars was annouced. I just hope that this annoucement does not end up like the last. lol

I can agree with you on the slower pace for RA3. But I must disagree with you on Tanya, Attack Dogs, and Naval units. Those are iconic when it comes to the Red Alert Universe. I would not be a true Red Alert game without the Dogs, the Ships, and Tanya. Hell my dad would throw a fit if they got rid of the Naval units.

I can agree with you on the Squids and the Dolphins, they need to go. I want a more realistic/sci-fi RA3. Needs to have that Risk style play with maybe a sub-unit layout similar to Emperor Battle for Dune. Soviets: *Futuristic Telsa/Nuclear Technologies *I want the Heavy Tank back! *Mammoth Tank has got to stay. lol. *Iron Curtain Tech Allied: *New Solar Tech *New ChronoTech *Holograph Tech (hmm that need to be debated) *New Types of light, but cheap, units. *I would also like to see the classical Spy Satellite lauching from the tech structure again. lol. Yuri: *Will his forces still be present?!? Civies: *Famous Monuements. *Realistic Gold/Gem Foundations *Old and New Tech Structures!

Found the image. Posted it in this forum in Future C&C Games.

Check this out. -
This is going to be the best Expansion Pack in C&C history. lol

"We at EA blew it," says Mr. John Riccitiello , the EA CEO who was involved in the purchase of Westwood Studios. EA just now realized how stupid of a decision was to buy out Westwood Studios and to close it. He also included the purchase of game companies Origin and Bullfrog. He states: “We at EA blew it,” he said, referring to EA’s problems keeping former top-tier studios Origin, Bullfrog and Westwood vital or even simply in existence, once they were purchased. There was too much consolidation, too much group think. The problem, he said, was “the fundamental belief that we could be one big happy family.”- To bad he did not get the all important second opinion. As we all know, they tarnished the title of Command & Conquer when Generals came out but sought redemption with Command & Conquer 3 when they actually decided to listen to us, the people. "Creative teams can be thought of as flowers in a hothouse -- you move the temperature up or down a few degrees and the flowers will die," he said. "The fear that talent will flee a studio, leaving no value left in the business, is "well-founded... it's exactly right," said Riccitiello. "The command and conquer model," he said, "doesn't work. If you think you're going to buy a developer and put your name on the label... you're making a profound mistake." Its just kind of sad that it took EA all this time to realize thier mistake. Its not about the money. Its about the heart and support of the people who play their games. Im not saying we should still be mad at EA, and I know this action is way overdue, but be proud of the progress that they have made with the development of Command & Conquer 3. EA sought redemption from the community and I believed they have earned the praise and respect of C&C veterans like me. Hell Apoc, our community representative for EA was able to bring back the classic C&C style, restore the story line of Command & Conquer, and put back the mechs for me, so i am happy. lol. Now all we need is a mod for the Mammoth MKII. lol MTV Article WIRED

Oh yeah Generals would have been a good game by itself, but the game never got any public nor corporate support. So in the end it felt like EA just made the game and moved on hoping the community would be satisfied. I did not bring this article up just so we could bash EA for buying out Westwood. I just wanted to show that this action was way overdue.

Probably GDI commando giving Nod commando "a present for ya". Gotta love my english. lol
-
I dont care it we have heard anything or not. I have not played a good Risk style RTS since Emperor Battle for Dune. I wonder if EA used that for the basis of Kane's Wrath? Oh well, the mechs and the subsides are returning and the world is mine for the taking once again.

Well shoot I was reading it somewhere that this game was going to be hard to mod. Might have been a post of CnCDen. Not going to confirm anything nor start a rumor, but I just wanted to let that be known. I am hoping that you can choose Mechs, Tanks, Armor, or Weapons in certain military buildings (Barracks, Weapons Factory, you know, so it could behave just a little like a C&C game) and not have them appear like they do on the Halo games. Sorry to TheBlackout. I was kinda in a mood that day. But I have been known for my petition pushings. I'll take better caution when reading posts. lol I am willing to give it some space as long as it follows the story line well. I would hate to see a FPS repetition of what Halo 2 cliff hangers did to the Halo storyline. lol

Got my fiance a 4' tall teddy bear with a DVD of Steven Colbear's best. lol What do I get is to be decided. Only get to see her every weekend. lol
-
You make it sound like I am a fanatic at this stuff. lol. I just thougth it would be cool 2 go back to the classics and ur right for the possibility of an expansion. This petition is not big for me and I probably do need to rent this game first, because of money issues and my gaming PC is not as it once was. lol.

GDI. Mechs always win.

I tried uploading the shortcuts too, it just goes to the one. So here is the link to the article. The article goes into detail about the new Scrin units. Gamestop article by Staff: " In Command & Conquer 3, last year's real-time strategy game from EA, three factions battled for control of Earth. There were the "good guys" in the form of the Global Defense Initiative, the chaotic forces under the Brotherhood of Nod, and an alien race that was introduced to the franchise known as the Scrin. In Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, the expansion, the story and the war will continue. Only this time, the action will focus on the two new subfactions for each of the three main factions. In an earlier preview, we introduced you to the two new Scrin subfactions in Kane's Wrath. First, there was Reaper-17, a hard-hitting and powerful offensive faction. Then, there was Traveler-59, a much more devious faction that relies on mind control to win battles. Each of these factions will have its own unique units, and we'll go over those below. Kane's Wrath ships in March. Reaper Tripod The Reaper tripod is an extremely mutated version of the standard Scrin assault pod. This mutation is a result of Reaper-17's dangerous and excessive Tiberium consumption. The tripod is equipped with the powerful conversion beam, a weapon that can shred opponents. And the bad news keeps on coming if you're facing the tripod in battle because an upgrade allows the conversion beam to fire for long stretches. As such, this towering war machine is a formidable unit in battle. Shard Walker Like a number of Reaper units, the shard walker is a mutated version of an existing Scrin unit; in this case, the gun walker. Transformed by Tiberium infusions, the shard walker is much faster and tougher than a gun walker, packing a bigger punch. In fact, it hurls pure Tiberium at devastating speeds. This makes the shard walker an ideal unit to deal with enemy infantry, as well as aircraft. There are a couple of upgrades that give the shard walker an even more powerful weapon, as well as tougher protective force fields. Prodigy One of Traveler-59's tactics is to enlist the enemy's forces to its own side thanks to mind control. This means that a single Traveler unit can recruit an army instantly. That unit is the prodigy, another genetic mutant, but one blessed with the power to not only take over the minds of its foes, but also teleport around the battlefield. That's a potent combination because the prodigy can jump around the map, seize control of enemy regiments, and raise havoc in the rear areas of an opponent. The downside is that controlling the prodigy in battle will require a lot of micromanagement. Cultist Another mind-control unit at Traveler-59's disposal is the cultist, which has limited mind-control abilities but is more of a frontline fighter. The cultist is a human abductee who is transformed by the implantation of the insectlike spawn of a prodigy into the brain. Each cultist can mind control a single squad at a time. Its captives can also surround and accompany it in battle. Aside from their mind-control abilities, the cultists are unarmed. They can be upgraded to increase their movement speed, which helps them close the gap with an enemy squad and subvert it. Ravager The ravager isn't so much a new infantry unit as it is a lightning-fast creature that is perfect for hit-and-run raids. A valid ravager tactic is to exploit its speed and use it to go after the enemy's harvesters, thus crippling an economy. Or, you could use ravagers to swarm into a base. Ravagers are the fastest of all the new units in the expansion, capable of even outrunning vehicles when upgraded with the "advanced articulators" upgrade, which is only available to ravagers that belong to the Traveler-59 sect. Those that belong to Reaper-17 can be upgraded with more powerful weapons. Mechapede Just like it sounds like, the mechapede is an insectlike Scrin unit that has a body consisting of many segments. The mechapede is very tough to take down because it can spawn new segments to replace those that have been destroyed. These segments can have different weapons on them, giving the mechapede a large amount of versatility on the battlefield. With up to eight weapon turrets total, this is one of the most potent Scrin units in the game."

The animation to the unit is quite impressive. It actually looks like an insect moving (the motion of movement). Its going to be fun screwing around with players heads online. -
You need to fix the shortcut for the third photo. Cool Screenshots tho.
