That's the impression I've gotten on the latest SecuROM, but remember that I don't really know how they've implemented it in RA3.

When I make my videos I use Avisynth to edit the video, but it's very close to a programming language and everything is done in text, so it might not be the easiest program to master. Avisynth is free.

The SecuROM used in the old days didn't install itself as a kernel mode driver and thus couldn't bring down the whole OS. Newer SecuROM installs itself as a kernel mode driver since it's more difficult to trick, but instead it can bring down the whole OS if it's badly coded. And I really agree that there SHOULD be info about DRM and what DRM is in the game in the manual! But I guess they won't put it in since it can decrease the sales.

I think you are asked to activate the game the first time you launch it on your computer, so that it will give you the chance to apply the no-drm patch that EA will eventually release. Unrelated but I've heard stories about people calling to Microsoft support and tricked support to give them free keys heh.

I still stand firm with my belief that DRM primarily hurts legitimate users. The "No disk required" is about time, the age of CDs have been over for a few years. I think more publishers should embrace digital distribution. I'm really glad that EA is considering patching the game to remove the copy protection when RA3 is ending its life, so I guess that answers my question in the fan roundtable. They better god damn keep this promise, because that's all it is, a promise.
