I played the first game but I haven't even tried the second game. I would prefer one good game without sequels. It's a trend that has been going on in the industry for quite some time: If a game reaches a certain mark on the $ axis, then there will always be a sequel. By playing the first game, I don't want to feel obligated to play the sequel. It's an evil circle.

Every Day is Community Day - APOC Says Goodbye
recover replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
He served the community to the best of his ability, and for that we are all truly grateful. Had it been anyone else and we would have been worse off. Thank you Apoc, and good luck. -
Aaron "Apoc" Kaufman is leaving EALA

What a shame... End of an era. Our ears and eyes inside EALA. We are now blind to whatever is being planned. -
Hell March to the Apocalypse has two versions!
recover replied to PurpleGaga27's topic in Gaming Discussion
Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the remixes. I didn't think HM3 lived up to its hype. It's still a very nice song though. -
Best Version of C&C Ending Credits Song
recover replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
Thanks for sharing that with us Nyerguds. Maybe you could have posted it ages ago too? Do you happen to have a lossless version too? I got an 192-kbps MP3 from the uploader of that video. -
C&C: The Motion Comic 4 - King Takes Pawn
recover replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Hmpf... Not sure I like this ending. Overall, the comic was a nice take though, but I reserve my final judgement until I have re-watched and contemplated the series. -

I found that version a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty awesome. And finally I know what the lyrics are Good stuff. -

I am still proudly refusing to adopt twitter. No one will know what I eat for breakfast! No one!!

Congratulations Luk3us. I bet you have felt left out when people mentioned that damn cake all the time.

I want motion comic #4 and a patch to make C&C4 more fun (fat chance, yeah...). My hopes will only be ½ fulfilled.

Finally all mac gamers can play Steam. All five of them. I welcome this since it means Steam for Linux is most likely on the way too.

I guess EA's stats are not encouraging. The auto-match feature is so hidden. There should be a button when you first start the game that reads "Play online!" and pressing it should start an auto-match search. I really hate the UI in C&C4. It's so dumb! Useless! Arrgh...
-
It's quite silly actually. When I first got the game, I was able to play a few PvP games using the auto match feature. As the days went on though, it totally stopped working. There is that counter counting down from 3 minutes and there aren't enough people using it to make it work. How are official tournaments going to be possible if there is no way to play ranked matches? It is sometimes possible to use auto match to play against AI though. But who wants to play against stinking AI's? Maybe it's different on the US servers... but this really stinks on the european servers. Maybe... just maybe.. if the auto match feature was placed a little better in the UI, then people might just use it. While on the subject, I hereby say that the UI in C&C4 is the worst UI I have encountered in a long time. This game is dumb, it doesn't even remember if I prefer to play as GDI or Nod and you can't even double click a game!! Soon will be the last day I play this game.

What attracts you to a mod?
recover replied to m666's topic in Red Alert 2 / Yuri's Revenge Maps & Modding
First of all, a mod has to be well designed and fun, just like a regular game. An important thing with mods is that they should be easy to get up and running. APB did this pretty good. Secondly, there has to be a community. If no one plays the game online (assuming the mod is multiplayer), then it's pretty pointless. One problem with APB is that there are almost only US servers, so it's a pain trying to have fun there. The ping ruins it. -
EA wants to be able to calculate the gain from every manhour spent working on a game. There are no such thing as a free lunch in their company. They also heavily rely on marketing. And since a free DLC won't get any marketing, they can't convince anyone to buy the game. For the people who run EA, that does not compute. No money = no free DLC.

As would I.

The music in C&C4 actually isn't that terrible. I mean, it's much better than C&C3.

Hi guys. Since I didn't pre-order the game, I can't play the special mission. So can you guys please spoil all the story details from that mission. Does Gideon succeed with plan to kill Kane? Obviously he shouldn't but if he fails then we fail the mission and that doesn't make sense either. Does this mission contain any exclusive full screen FMVs? My guess is no. Thanks.

Because it's so obvious what they are trying to do. They maximize profits and we get diminishing returns each time we pay. The value of the subsequent games are lower but the price is not. It's like buying a cheese one day for 5$, a smaller cheese the next day for 5$, and a tiny cheese the third day for 5$. Can you think of anyone being happy with that?

Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight Section Updated
recover replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Great job. -
You can really see that his boss have learned him the technical terms and all that. While it is true that Valve has Steam, that is not the reason why they can push out free DLC packs which adds a lot of content to TF2. The real answer is that they built TF2 to last. Valve is clearly dedicated to support TF2 for a long time, and plan on updating it for a long time, even with new free content. All of the new content is FREE. The reason why they can do this is because more people continue to buy the game. It is a win-win situation. This is different from e.g. RA3. EA made the game and expected a return on their investment within X months. After these months any additional income is just a bonus. One more thing, I remember reading that EA budgets their game to have support for X number of patches. After these patches, there won't be any more patches, even if a new bug is uncovered etc. We have clearly seen this to be true. I guess the reason for this is first and foremost money, but secondly that team members have moved on to other projects and no one has the effort it takes to bring them all together to fix the bug. This is most likely a consequence of the corporate structure of EA and the bureaucracy that comes with it.

C&C: The Motion Comic Episode 4 Coming Soon
recover replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
I would so hate the person responsible if it turned out this wasn't going to be released, since it will contain a key part of the C&C4 story, or more specifically the story of our protagonist. -
Yes, this is pretty awesome. Let's just hope they stick with the date. My prediction was actually this summer. The beta is so so so so awesome. My only complaint is that we have to buy three games and they will probably cost some money. Blizzard = moneyholics nowadays, but they still make good games. P.S. I really like the last paragraph in that press release... damn legalese.
