  1. It is actually quite funny that EA's new DRM was reverse-engineered in a few days, rendering the whole DRM useless. Now it will truly only annoy the people who bought the game. Epic poetic justice?
  2. I didn't even know there would be more than 3 episodes (I haven't watched #3 yet).
  3. I feel that EA has been pumping out C&C games too fast. I mean, I thought C&C3 was pretty good. Sure, they broke the story in quite a few places, but overall it was a decent attempt, considering we are talking about EA. KW was a disaster story-wise, but still fun to play. RA3 came really quickly after that and then its expansion. To be honest I haven't played either. And now C&C4 is here and I have only had time to play it a little, but I didn't enjoy either the story or the gameplay. Sam Bass himself said their games have a quite short development time. I feel that I have been overwhelmed with C&C and I really don't have time to play it all and thus I'm enjoying it even less. Either that or I don't have the spare time I used to have. Anyhow, I will wait to give my final verdict on C&C4 until I have properly played the game.

    C&C 4 - Finding Jason Graves

You forgot to mention that there's also a competition in this blog post. I submitted one guess, hope I'm right.

Sam Bass on the EA Podcast

I'm glad we all agree that this is a DRM now, even people over at EA. I lost some respect for Apoc before when he said that the always-online requirement was not a DRM.
  6. What a bummer. I wish EA could hotfix faster. Like straight from the oven. So much bureaucracy.
  7. I have to get a Dune fix sometime, I hardly know this music. :/

Sam Bass on the EA Podcast

The interview continues to about 50:00. After that Jeff talks about some technical problems (= DRM) he's been having. And after that they talk with the other guy about EA comics. A lot of the interview is about Sam Bass's background in game development, and some C&C4 development history.
  9. Oh, nice. Thanks! For the record, I liked General Aurums picture the most.

C&C 4 - The Real Man Behind Kane

I am always surprised with the jokes he comes up with for every interview.
  11. How can they harvest anything if they remove the tiberium in C&C4?
  12. It's a pretty good summary of the series.
  13. Well, at least it has been entertaining from time to time. I mostly liked it when Joe Kucan visited. I never really enjoyed "the battlecast five" or "the battlecast ten". I prefer watching matches from the beginning to the end, with no cuts. Ah well, bye bye battlecast primetime!
  14. This reminds me of this image: Why DRM Doesn't Work. It is so fitting. Anyone in disagreement?
  15. I also heard that Ubisoft's servers had a denial of service attack, which then in turn prevented paying customers from playing. I wonder if Ubisoft wouldn't have added the DRM if they knew how it would turn out. I wonder if EA are reconsidering their decision, now that they know a very likely outcome. I doubt it though. Me? I plan to play the game at a friend.
  16. It wasn't too bad. As repeated many times in this thread, the only bad thing is that it broke about 10 already established canon facts each minute.
  17. Cool. From the image we can see that even the mighty Kane has difficulty choosing which one to go to.

    Why Mark Skaggs Quit EA

    Yes, please do.

Raj Joshi's Final Day at EALA

On a related subject, will the "C&C Live team" or whatever it was called also be sacked? Weren't they supposed to support old C&C games or something like that. I haven't seen anything they've created though, so I suppose the effort failed.

    Why Mark Skaggs Quit EA

It's always good to tie up loose ends, so thanks for this Sonic. This only confirms that when EA has a release date set, they almost never change it, even if the game isn't 100% ready. They rather cut stuff from it.
  21. I totally agree with you there Neroon. Apoc typed "Zip, zero, zilch, none." with crossed fingers. If there were none then we would not be having this discussion. Whatever hinders me to play a game is DRM in my book.

Raj Joshi's Final Day at EALA

Am I the only one to detect a positive tone in the message he posted? Bye Raj!
  23. DRM = Digital Rights Restrictions Management I consider the online requirement and phone-home behavior to restrict my ability to play the game, so no-DRM my ass.

    Music from Tiberium

It's pretty alright, much better than C&C3 anyway (did that game even have music?). I'm glad it didn't go waste anyway.
