generals: zero hour problems
SilentAssasin replied to BoMbFuNk.Mc's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
if indeed the problem is a memory leak, adding more ram is more of a band-aid for the problem, rather then a fix. i mean 512mb should be enough as the requirements state that it only requires 128mb. But yeah if it fixed your problem consider yourself lucky -

lol is funny alright. EA and the word patch are both mutually exclusive. -

The chances of EA releasing another patch is very remote. So by the sounds of it will have to make-do with what we got -

funneling type architecture, is used for maps with bridges or archways. it also is on some maps where the terrain is is very high and low. it enables the units to under bridges, and into Crevasses etc. that is my understanding of it -

one of the worse maps for the stuttering for me would have to be Mountain Fox, it basicly goes to an unplayable crawl on that map (3 AI on hard) -

i agree with fluke, on that about the maps, i play max players on any map (on hard), and the stuttering is only a problem on some maps, others are fine and i dont get any issues -

could it be the audio drivers? when you guys reformated did you get newer audio drivers. my friend fixed his problem with different audio drivers (older ones). having wrong ones on the system could be causing the problem -

if we could find out what is causing the problem, maybe we could write our own patch to fix the game. i say **** EA, they don't care about the customers, and only the buyers, so screw them. i read some arcticle that says the problem with the game.dat file. i see what i can do -

maybe is directx 9.0b?, maybe its when its installed straight onto XP, cause my last setup i had 8.0 (stock XP directx ) then 8.1, then 9.0 , then 9.0b in that order. There could be a missing file that generals needs or something -

it must be software, maybe VIA 4-in-1 drivers or directx. post what directx and chipset drivers you have installed? my stuttering problem started when i reformatted my computer (no hardware change), so its something that i installed or did before that didn't now -
i am out of ideas, maybe try installing redalert again without the patch

mmm... so its a router/switch, i use a billion Adsl modem router connected to a 10/100 switch (seperate unit), and driect connect works fine. i am not sure how it would handle the packets but it seems internal packets are getting put through firewall (how odd). Try to set the lan as DMZ that might fix the problem
