Who is upgrading to Windows 10?
Doctor Destiny replied to Sonic's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
I'll be waiting a while. Windows 10 removes a few things I still use. -
Normally I'd celebrate but zocom is our misunderstood idiot. Harmless, but ultimately nice. Actually gonna be a bummer if he really does leave.

Stealth Generator
Doctor Destiny replied to CptGallium's topic in Red Alert 2 / Yuri's Revenge Maps & Modding
What doesn't work? Is it just choppy? Like I said at PPM, if you remove DoubleThick=yes from building art entries, it works fine and there's no detrimental effects graphically. -
2012 had such a weak display from the Yellowstone eruption. Sheesh. Anyhow, this should be a decent movie. I'm a sucker for disaster movies anyway so I'll watch it regardless, and I've watched some really bad ones. xD

Windows 10 to Release on 29th of July
Doctor Destiny replied to Sonic's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
I'll use Windows 10 eventually, but I won't be doing an upgrade to replace Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. 10 isn't quite bringing enough to the table for me to switch right away. -
I've tried the SteamOS. As far as Linux goes, it's not very good. I've used several Linux distros and I can't stand the Steam version. It just doesn't seem to work very well.

Hurrah, Internal Errors...
Doctor Destiny replied to hxazgalor's topic in Red Alert 2 / Yuri's Revenge
The game is doing something it's not supposed to, thus it crashes. I got my disassembler installed again and it's some cell object that's crashing. Could be a map tile or it could be something else entirely. Can you post the map file itself? Make sure there's no ore on slopes, that will cause a crash every time. -
Question about Final Sun map editor
Doctor Destiny replied to frostwyrm's topic in Tiberian Sun / Firestorm Maps & Modding
Editing random maps is a bit strange. I don't think it's actually possible, but find the random map file generated in the TS directory and copy it somewhere else. Open it with Notepad or some other text editor (do not use Word, WordPad or anything of the like) and compare it to a TS map file (mpr I think but map works fine too). If you have the right information, save the random map as an mpr or map file then make sure Official is set to no. With any luck, it will open in FinalSun but if it doesn't, you can't edit random maps... -
Not bad with my dad streaming stuff and me running some torrents.

Hurrah, Internal Errors...
Doctor Destiny replied to hxazgalor's topic in Red Alert 2 / Yuri's Revenge
The error occurs outside of the normal RA2 memory address scope. It seems to be crashing with a division by zero. Does this happen on Westwood maps? At some specific point? Randomly? I need some additional information. -
I play GTA5 with my keyboard and mouse. I just avoid flying. xD Anyhow, been playing GTA5 online with a few mates, played some Battlefield Hardline (fun game honestly) and bounced around with MW2, BO1 and BO2 online.

Falcon Northwest releases a 18-core mini-tower PC
Doctor Destiny replied to PurpleGaga27's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
Why would anyone use a Quadro for gaming? That's not a gaming card. Not only is this pointless, it's stupid and pointless. facedesk.jpg -
Only ever so slight.

This latest Call of Duty game is full of fails
Doctor Destiny replied to PurpleGaga27's topic in Gaming Discussion
If you don't think Call of Duty changes from year to year, you're just relying on morons who just like to hate on Call of Duty. Take it from someone who actively plays it... they're not carbon copies. -
It doesn't matter now. Valve took paid mods off the Steam Workshop. So I guess the backlash was for good reason and they listened.
-
That is the only way to let modders make a profit, but, unfortunately, that's not what happened. What's even worse is that the people shilling their lame ass paid mods probably won't ever see a dime from their effort. They shouldn't in the first place but a variety of reasons ensure they'll never get anything. First, Bethesda ****s on the modders by taking 45 percent right up front then Valve takes their standard 30 percent, which leaves 25 percent for the asset creator. Unfortunately, before the creator sees anything, they have to sell $400 to $500 worth of product in total and they have to wait for a pay cycle to receive any sort of pay out. The pay cycle is 90 days so if you hit the threshold at day 91, you have to wait 3 months before you get anything. The whole system is a ****ing joke. Bethesda should be burned to the ground for even attempting this **** for their buggy, **** games. Yeah, I'll say it right here and out loud: Bethesda sucks. Easily one of the worst developers out there, right up there with Ubisoft in **** factor. People fawn over Fallout and The Elder Scrolls but they're mediocre, buggy pieces of ****. I want to like them more but the fact I need mods to fix glaring issues is pretty ****ty of them.
-
The backlash is pretty huge. People are making a joke of it and it's exposing Bethesda as one of the crappiest developers out there. I'll say it: The Elder Scrolls is ****ing overrated, Skyrim especially. The worst part is that Valve allowed this and it's split a good community right in half because some people sold the **** out instead of saying no. I'll say this now, as someone who mods other games, you are not entitled to make a cent for your work no matter how much you put into it. If you want to get paid, make your own game but if you're working on a derivative work, you deserve jack ****. Maybe I'm just someone who works for the love of the game instead of making a profit.

I say they should just make a new title but make sure to cleverly avoid the number 3 just for lulz.

It comes with 7 if I remember right. I just bought it digitally and it took almost 2 hours for me to get all 60GB of download.

Windows 10 will be free to upgrade for a year
Doctor Destiny replied to PurpleGaga27's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
What the hell are you talking about? -
For RA2, put VideoBackBuffer=no and AllowVRAMSidebar=no under [Video] in ra2(md).ini. Usually helps RA2 perform better as Westwood derped with it.
-
Slow preformance, Am I remembering things this badly?
Doctor Destiny replied to Phillip Causey's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
Might try disabling the back buffer in ra2(md).ini. That usually clears it up for me. Under [Video], add VideoBackBuffer=no and AllowVRAMSidebar=no. Puts everything onto the CPU instead of GPU as RA2 is all CPU based. -
The new iteration of Internet Explorer is only for Windows 10 so older operating systems will run IE11 still, and no, it can't be removed either. IE controls vital proxy and connection settings for most applications.
