    Nod Windows XP Logon Screens

Do these work for my wonderful Ubuntu install?
  2. Think so. You can easily mount the ISO with DAEMON Tools.

The exact error codes and an MSDN consultation may help.

    C&C 3 Modding Poll

Um, the whole point of this thread is to ask whether you would be interested in using the NEWLY RELEASED SDK?
  5. Yes, patching/reverse engineering. Porting is a different matter though.
  6. Mm, wish that could happen, but the project maintainers seem to have abandoned the project a while ago. SVN history shows periodic bursts of activity, but other than that...: http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/detai...p;mode=12months
  7. That would be serious work, might as well remake the game from scratch. The compiler Westwood used back in 1994/5 is quite dated. Perhaps we should all work on the FreeCNC project from SVN?
  8. There was the FreeCNC project, but it seems to be currently abandoned: http://sourceforge.net/projects/freecnc Latest source is in SVN, svn co if desired, though the build environment is annnoying.

    C&C 3 Modding Poll

SDK = Software Development Kit, in the more conventional sense it's a set of apps, headers, etc. you need to write programs for a particular platform. In C&C 3 it's a bunch of files you need to make mods. The whole of a MOD(IFICATION) is that you're MODIFYING game files.

    cheaters are loser..period

I think usually the FDS won't start with one player, but there are server.dat patches to allow gameplay to commence with one person.

Tiberian Sun Rising for Command & Conquer 3!

Instead of complaining about the shortcoming of a mod, perhaps you could...fix it? There aren't enough hours in the day for one person to make everything 100% perfect.

    Post pictures of yourself!

I'll get to that eventually. My webcam is acting s****y, and I just woke up after trying to fall asleep so I ain't much in the mode for trying to toy with it. ever heard of a real camera  Yes, I'll totally buy a $3000 camera to post a picture of myself on an Internet forum, totally.

    Hello to CNCNZ

Kinda late to say this but hey to all the forum denizens in here. Probably some of you might know me better as scguy318.

    1. It's okay, though I had a bit of difficulty noticing the forum index link at first. 2. Not really. 3. No idea. 4. It's ok. Why do you think he's asking in the first place? So he can buff up his self-confidence?

    Kane's Wrath Q&A at GameSpot

Apparently you are unschooled in the art of figurative expressions. I never said EA should port C&C 3 to an ancient DOS-based OS whose support has long since been discontinued. If you've ever run Windows 98 on modern hardware, you'll notice that the performance is quite good for its limitations and issues. And no, don't tell me I never ran Windows 98 the same way I "never ran" Windows Vista. Plus, if you even paid attention to the wonderful 20-page long thread in Tech section, perhaps you would have figured out that I run XP/Ubuntu. There's not all that much reason why a game cannot support Windows 9x OSes, however obsolete that would be. GetProcAddress anybody? Well, if you paid a smidgen of attention, EA kinda confessed to bungling the continuity of the C&C universe. GDI is the only faction that has Zone Troopers. By your reasoning, next GDI will have its own Transformers subfaction, and the Scrin will have its own cheesy B-rated movie invasion subfaction.

    Kane's Wrath Q&A at GameSpot

Make it run like Windows 98 without the bugs and I'll be happy.

Now let's see a guide to changing the boot picture via hex editing ntoskrnl.exe, which I definitely know is possible .

    Starcraft 2?

But you are violating the rules of normal play. I watched the replay of you versus Highbuzz. I believe you basically sat on your hands while he pwned? Don't tell me I don't read, else I would never have made it past kindergarten. Anywayyyyyy...back to Starcraft.

    Starcraft 2?

Let's use Wiktionary: Hack: 9. slang To hack into; to gain unauthorized access to a computer system (e.g. website) or network by manipulating code; a "crack" in computer parlance. Cheat: 1. (intransitive) To violate rules in order to gain advantage from a situation. So really it doesn't make any sense to use the word hack. Cheating applies to everything, both developer-added and player-added cheats.

    XP or Vista?

You're absolutely correct. Vista is totally different than XP, in a bad way IMHO. From Wiktionary: 1. (internet, slang, originally leet) To own in the sense of defeat. So even if I didn't know what it meant, a 5-second lookup gave me all the knowledge I need.

EA admits its makes crap games soft of

Back in the day, circa 1994, people called xclock using 1.4 MB memory hogging. Resources were a luxury. If people could have had 1 GB systems back in 1995, then the graphical quality of C&C would have been better.
