So apparently the next logical step is GDI infantry with mobile emitters. Look out for it in "Kane's Cabals Conspicuous Absence" the 2nd expansion to the highly hyped rts franchise - C&C! I'm more concerned with internal fiction, the balance can be adjusted later. Personally I'm quite captivated by GDI's own version of the flame thrower. (Why does nod have both infantry and vehicles that can clean out buildings - and why are infantry with great big flamable liquids so hard to kill by other infantry???) Sigh... so many people with corrupted thought processes. I see you guys are going to play hard-to-get! But I'm right and you're all wrong! -gben Its hyped for a reason- Because its goo-hood Sonic emitter infantry? What a great idea! A striking asnwer to the EMP cyborgs Black hands are though to kill? Really? Azrael is right, btw. It is powerful in firepower, but ineffective against air units, and weakly armored. Thats how balance works. Gben: What do you mean with your last sentence in the penultimate post?

12th Anniversary C&C Podcast with Joe Kucan Interview

This is an awsome idea and every EA member thats concerned with KW should read this. -
Like from TS to WWs CnC3 or from the latter to EALAs CnC3?
-
CnC3. Currently, its my most fav skirmish game, it even replaced RA2 and AoE2. Its also my third favourite CnC game after CnC95 and RA2. But there could be snow/forest maps... And i cant wait for the new units!
-
Adam just confirmed that these are real. They meant to showcase the UI, hence the low graphical settings.
-
Well, they had live action videos in TW, so hopefully there will be CGI in KW as well, as more CGI vids in general.
-
Well, the map reminds me of the global map inbetween the missions, and the menu colors are cold and sleek as the menus in the final CnC3. Additionally, that screenshot has mammoth tanks which look almost the same as todays, the infantry is also grouped up as i know from TW, the ground texture is akin to those of some missionbases, and even Nods and GDIs logos stayed put. But thats just my impression I know its CnC3 only at the beginning stage, and perhaps was ultimately dropped and started from scratch. Edit: The vids make it out to be more modern sci-fi-ish in design, but they kept that flashing- Altough here the flash would have been too much
-
Wow! Its very interesting that they quite stayed true to the original design! (Logo, interface, colour palette etc) Altough i dont know why this french site states its the Scrin logo- Could be CABAL or the mutants as well. Look, even the Mammy is there!

Tiberian Sun Rising for Command & Conquer 3!

No, its a mod for TW. Bet youd like this as ep, eh? -
I dont think there is a point, and its a tad to big, however, these items are really well made. Wouldnt mind a CnC3 cap or even a key holder for instance.
-
I was really skeptical about the unit at first, and critisized the design, but between the choices you gave, i really like the hover idea the most. Also, because the design concentrated on balancing rather than the other way around- Since its a very powerful weapon, it has to be a light vehicle, and what feels more light as a hovercraft?

Kane's Wrath and Tiberium Continuity
hagren replied to Avist Torch's topic in Tiberium Wars / Kane's Wrath
Bob: Thats why i asked I like most of the changes theyve made, and nearly all i can comprehend, while theyre not to well and detailedly explained- Not that this was really different with WW. Cabals absence? Perhaps they wanted to make it (him) more mystical, perhaps they didnt like it. Could understand that. TS was very 80s sci-fi, and time moves on. Of course, with a new design sheme, they could have pulled it off. Alas, the Scrin are somewhat in stead of both mutants and Cabal. Tiberium? The change was sudden, and quite different, but the same happened between TD and TS. What is fishy in the whole thing is that its simply not consistent. I dig both versions, however. If only itd spread more vigorously. Tech? I fully and wholeheartedly comprehend why the tech advanced and took a step back at the same time. It was integrated into (and part of) the story and very well explained, imho. The focus lied on different tech, or even completely out of warmachinery. Of course, i miss some more mechs, but other devoid stuff they bring back in KW, which satisfies me on a very high level, as the completely new units as well. But i concur, since they intend to build a bridge between the two games, which should translate into a seamless and extremely detailed plotholefilling. Azrael: I had a conversation with Klepacki about that. He said that he would be delighted to do it, but because theres history with the two parties, its uncertain if he could aid EA even if he had time. Gben: EA wont, im sure about that. While it would really be cool and benefit both us and them, EA doesnt give the devs enough time, and its not TS anyway. -
gben: *slaps forehead* Only now i see it too! God, and i felt so dumb

Hm, where would you might get that strange feeling? -
Yeah, Malestrom is a mess. Its like one big glitch, really
-
Youd buy it solely because its an RTS? Really?!
-
What does he do on the CnC boards then But i also dont know why youd mention this.
-
Why do you do this all the time, if i may ask?
-
Thats awsome and unbelievably disturbing at the same time.

I hope its enough TD feel like TW was, but sufficient amount TS for the TS fans (Im not that much of a TS fan meself, hence my liking TW). But to be frank, i doubt it. For the TS feel, you need the original units/buildings, original tiberium fauna/flora, ionstorms and design style/color sheme/FMV direction. And what they showed doesnt look like that at all. -
The gameplay of Bioshock may be shallow, yes. But the design, the atmosphere, the music, the setting, the plasmids, voice acting et al redeem it. I was blown away by the demo, altough it has to be noted that its fairly limited, which isnt a good thing. Its also true that it has dumbed down a bit because of console gamers, and is quite overhyped, but that doesnt make it suck. There are many games that are overrated and offer nothing new on the table as well, and are even more bland, repetitive and run-of-the-mill as this. For example, what is so great about Crysis? What is so new? Far Cry 2 looks much more imaginative. Fear? C.H.E.E.S.Y. more like. Condemned was far scarier and intense. HL2? Great design, but wheres the story, where the excitement? First HL was better. And if were on SF, AVP2 was better. And i could continue. Just because Bioshock is hyped and mediocre in your eyes doesnt mean that i cant see something artful and valuable in it. Saracen: Bad utilization? Why? Its smooth, and has awsome specs (in a good way). "You're like every other dumb consumer out there. You don't need quality, just flashy bull****" Design isnt the only thing why he likes BS. And please dont generalise. I know im not in for bling-bling and reckon the game to be cool. And no. A point doesnt fail because of an example you dont agree with. You say the same thing: Flash isnt enough. I agree. Its funny btw that you take a quote out of context, create a thread about it. Even moreso when i was on your side.

I wish you the best of luck, i know it wouldnt be my cup of tea. I think
