    EA: No bases in C&C4

I (And he) meant the overall gameplay changes.

    EA: No bases in C&C4

Don't forget the class system. The defense class, which is able to build defense and support structures, probably has to work co-operatively with other classes to achieve victory, since the crawler itself does not stand a chance against a huge opposing force. If balanced correctly, this could be great in MP (teamplay!), especially if the objective-based MP is imaginative. Malevolence/Nmenth: The crawler isn't the only change, no. There's also the class-based factions, objectives in MP, darker FMVs and progressive upgrading. Imho all this sounds mouthwatering and epic, if, again, done correctly.
  3. Urgh...yeah, that's why fan feedback has been taken to heart after TW. The devs surely have no fun making these games, and they just compile a shoddy game quickly to cash in an easy buck. Also, they eat babies. With spicy ketchup. In other words: Wake up! Gaming is business. They don't develop games out of the purity of their hearts, it's their work, means of earning money. That does not mean that they can't release a good or great game to earn those funds, or that Westwood made perfect games- they did not. Some people should take their rose-tinted glasses down. CnC3 was decent, RA3 was great, with varied map design, interesting units, creative humour and wonderful, wonderful music. Maybe it's you who should see past the label, because there are many games from EA which were or still are great, inventive or even innovative. It's not EALA who kept making games fo three universes with the same freaking gameplay concept or release the same game three times with improved graphics...

    EA: No bases in C&C4

I don't see how this is such an outrage- The franchise had to move on eventually after 15 whopping years. There was a Gamestar podcast on this, with two opposing sides regarding this change in gameplay, and the one who was in favour of it said it well (paraphrased): "If this change wouldn't have been made, what would have separated CnC3 from CnC4? The graphics are the same, the units are the same, the story still centers on Nod and GDI, and FMVs are retained, too. If they wouldn't have changed anything, you would have bought the same game three years after TW. Now where's the sense in that?". Plus, it's NOT like DoW2 or WiC. There's no popcap as far as we know, infantry should not play a bigger role than before, the battles aren't small-scaled, and you have production facilities- just on the crawler. If you're itching for the old style of play, you could just simply play the defense class which is able to erect a number of structures, or even simpler, take out the 9 games that had MCVs or the gazillion titles which feature base building. Since upgrades play a huge role in the game, it's not only going to focus on the action alone anyway. You also have to make a lot of decisions in regards of the crawler. Doctor Destiny: Erm, what has the gameplay have to do with the setting? You're mixing up your aspects here. Why is a game in the same setting with base-building not generic sci-fi with Tiberium? Beats me... Also, if not now, when then? Would those who whine now not whine when it changes in Gens2? RA4? Give me a break. Besides, it's not that big of a change. Now it's simply Build your crawler-->upgrade your crawler-->get an army-->attack. I'm curious how resource management will work.
  5. The fundamentals of CnC are massive vehicle battles and a lack of pop-cap, and that's still there. For everyone else, there's the defense class. In my opinion, a fresh re-imagining is positive, if you think about how many games used basebuilding in the past. That I have to be online is bull**** though. Why can't they just deactivate the accounts for the time when I'm offline?
  6. Don't bother. Gimmicks like queuing and zoom are awsome, but aside from that the game has absolutely no soul whatsoever.
  7. Understandably. Apoc, you hear this?
  8. Mighty_bob: I, like many others, was against the notion of the lack of base building in the past; I considered myself as a "Sim City"-type of player, who builds big, pretty bases before streamrolling over the enemy. But then I played World in Conflict and got a taste of instant action, and it's not that bad at all- Plus, there's definitely more building going on in CnC4, because your customizing your crawler, build bunkers and towers as support class...

Your vision of Command & Conquer 4

Tiberian Twilight makes no sense when it's the final chapter- it should be dusk.
  10. The only thing I "demand" is intelligent AI and flawless pahtfinding. And of course, more CGI, more level variation, civilians, more EVA infomercials, a higher zoom factor, cleaner graphics, imaginative mission design, unique and useful units, bigger faction asymmetry, unique scenarios, a thought-out, brilliant plot and a volumptous outro and intro.
  11. My problem lies in the outdated graphics. SAGEs pathfinding, net code, AI handling and scaling sucks.
  12. It could be also the new EALA GM, Sean Decker
  13. I don't think anything in EA's CnC3 was much cheesier than McNeil wanting to kick some ass or bringing Umagon back to life in TS. What CnC3 lacked were compelling FMVs, the atmosphere and design was decent however. His babble about "Ascencion" is similar to what WW planned though, and the plan leading up to that was, admit it or not, pretty witty. Yeah, the ending was a bit underwhelming, but the events leading up to it were, except some boring Red zone missions, satisfying enough.
  14. Sorry, not a big fan of clichéd post-apocalyptic scenarios (Notable exceptions: Fallout and Rage). I just could not bear those cheesy desert nomads, ie. shiners. Malevolent AIs are overdone too, but CABAL was saved by a combination of good writing and superb voice acting.
  15. I referred to WWs CnC3. It would have featured GDI, Nod, Cabal, the Scrin and the Forgotten as factions, one of them in an exp pack. The story isn't that special though (cheesy, even), so I'm happy with EA's own version, especially Kane's plan was brilliant. Hopefully the Scrin shape up to be more mystical, though.
  16. But we already knew their version of their story- Kane is the biblical Cain and tries to escape his earthy prison, Cabal is still alive in a remote jungle, benevolent Scrin rebels arrive and mutants are the key to fight Tiberium. Well, that's the outline anyways, pretty meh if you ask me. What I did dig from their version though was the TD-RA connection (Tesla inadvertently calling the Scrin). Imho EALA is more than capable in creating kick-ass RTS (Kane's KW/TW plans were brilliant), easily my favourite RTS studio, next to Ensemble and Blizz (Props for Massive's WiC, too).

    Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

M sister saw it, who's a great bale and Terminator fan, and she says that the acting, special effects, dialogues and story was abysmal. Hearing about the ending alone tought me not to see it in theaters.

    Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

You should be lucky not seeing T4, it's said to be absolutely awful.
  19. I didn't. Kodaemon found the original screenshot, it's from CnC3
  20. You guys are all only kidding, right?

So now that E3 is over...

Modern Warfare 2. CoD4 had one of the best campaigns I've ever experienced in an FPS. Ad of course, Mafia 2. That game is going to rock my socks off.

    Now Playing - Games

WaW singleplayer is baaad though...played this until the very last mission couple of days, actually. Currently going through the campaigns of RA2, RA3 and WCIII again, and have fun while at it even though I had to install RA2 on my crappy old PC to avoid crashes (Something which never happened with the German version) and WCIII crashed on me once as well (Hopefully it won't again). PC incompatibilities/hardware advancement and bad programming FTL. I'm also toying with the thought of purchasing MoHA and Mass Effect, but am indecisive about both. If I go for precise and satisfying aiming in MoHA and diversity in ME, am I in for an unpleasant surprise?

Sean Decker Named New EALA GM

Please don't bash Mike. According to Cypher he cared a great deal about CnC and many improvements after Gens can be credited to him. And CnC is still standing strong.
