2008 Gamezine Awards: Best PC Game - Vote for RA3
Saracen replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Interesting way of putting it.... I'd use the word "flawed". It's constructive and doesn't require the forum censor to do its job. -
Too much is being read into this I think. Yuri was never capable of telekinesis or psychic dispersion or invulnerability. His abilities were purely through Remote psychic influence. Yuriko of course is capable of higher level powers like telekinesis and psychic dispersion. So like I said, too much is being read into it.

The cats have finally got bored with playing with it, and trying to climb it for the last few days... So now I'll post mine. The wife took the 7ft one to work to spruce up her office. Best place for it, where no cats can knock it down. And yay for the fact I have a phone that costs the price of a PS3, yet contains a crap camera!

Nope, I'm buying from a very reliable car dealer. All car dealers these days have these disposable paper mats down as standard practice. They are then replaced every time they're soiled. There's nothing worse than getting a feel for the car after someone else has been in it.... only to find the last person had dog crap or mud on the bottom of their shoe, and the stuff has worked its way into the interior carpet. It's the same with bed stores as well. They have similar printed mats to avoid crap on people's shoes soiling the mattresses.

Countries like the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Japan all drive on the correct side of the road. It's everywhere else that's wrong!

Just PM it to me as well, so if it gets removed, at least I can have a laugh... although I'm already guessing it's of a YMCA/In the navy theme.

CNCNZ.com Map - Where abouts in the world are you?

They're still to do the UK it seems you get a nice view of EALA though... just thought I'd bring that up -
I was looking at all the motivational posters that have been made around the web. Some included were for games such as guild wars, Call of Duty 4 and who knows what other games... But I couldn't find any C&C community created ones... Well not anymore! Your job now guys (for a little fun) is to create C&C related Motivational posters. Consider this a little competition, and who know's maybe even Apoc will find potential win from this thread I'm gonna post a quick, no thrills example to start the ball rolling: So what are you guys waiting for!? Let's go! Extra points going for humour or clever use of words.

It's even worse then. Luk3us regularly gets ads for gay chat lines on the ads above. Take that as you will. Welcome anyway.

Petroglyph, in conjection with Truegames Interactive have announced their next games title. Simply known as 'Mytheon' the game is more than just an Massively Multiplayer Online game (MMO). The genre is unclear, but it's being called a Role Playing Action Strategy game. I'm not personally a fan of MMO's or standard RPG's. But this game is free to download and play, as well as offering a strategic layer to the role playing formula. So it has my attention on the basis that I am a fan of Strategy RPGs and mythology, so we will see where this goes throughout 2009. To see the Mytheon website, click here.

Community member Kelathin, has put together a video containing concept art for the recently announce Mytheon MMO. This trailer is 'Semi-Official' in the respect that it contains images not found on the current Mytheon Website, and have been provided, (with Permission) from Petroglyph themselves.

I was going to take a picture and put it up... but then a kitten with the same name as yours truly decided to climb it and send it toppling over. This is not the 1st time, neither is it the tenth time, I've lost count. So, to save the effort of having to fix the large tree, there is another. I have a 3ft Fibre optic tree that I'll post once I've sprayed it with enough Pet Behaviour stuff to teach the little mite that climbing Christmas trees is a bad idea.

The team at Big Download recently caught up with the guys at Truegames to talk about the new Petroglyph title, Mytheon. In this interview, much is discussed including what Mytheon is about, a rundown on game mechanics, and a few other interesting tidbits... Here's a sample: To read this 2 page interview head on over by clicking here.

Welcome to the UK. I hate this damn country -
I'll just put this in here: I hate Christmas.... But I won't bore you with an essay on why that is.

To be honest the bond movies have become one giant advertisement. I haven't seen Quantum of Solace yet, but Casino Royale was one giant Sony showroom. Sony Ericsson Phones, Sony Viao Laptops, Sony Widescreen TV's etc.... It was just short of Bond using a Playstation 3 to kill some time playing games or using the Freeview TV feature, and him using the PSP as a portable satellite navigation device and MP3 player! There was god knows how many other product placements shoved in the faces of consumers... I lost count that's for sure. On the topic of a Black James Bond. Such a thing wouldn't bother me directly. The pre-requisite to any Bond Actor (these days) is that he has to be born in England, since the character is seen to be a true Englishman. As it stands however, there's not a single Black actor in the UK or Ireland capable of pulling off the role. Daniel Craig (as it stands) is perhaps the only actor even close. Although I find the man's acting rather wooden, lifeless, and boring to watch. In my eyes there have only ever been 2 great James Bonds... George Lazenby who only ever took on the role once, but did an outstanding job. The man is Australian too, which is kinda ironic. Then of course there's Sean Connery.... who was Scottish... But Sonic is right, the franchise is running its course. However, there's 'Bond 23' coming out in 2011, which is the end of a trilogy focussing on Bond as a character... from there it is said the franchise can go on any course it wishes... Daniel Craig is contacted to do 'Bond 24' as well and then his 10 year contract ends in 2015. From there I can imagine the franchise going all Hollywood, the Americans will probably murder it, and it will die by 2025.

Petroglyph Releases Universe at War Mod Tools
Saracen replied to Mike.nl's topic in Petro-Gamers Front Page News
Press Release Here. Petroglyph have confirmed to forum fans that the game is MMO based. This is still all we know. The only thing we do know is that the game will be published online, be free to download and play, but will require gamers to purchase additional content to get the most from the game. As I've said to Sonic. I couldn't care what happens to them. Both their games so far have been promising from the outset, only to turn into rather average games at best. In the case of Universe at War, I regarded it as one of the best RTS games ever... But once you play the campaign, and then suffer what Windows Live has to offer, it just dies. It's like a conjoined Siamese twin in that respect. Fascinating to look at, but doomed to death. In my eyes, Petroglyph have become nothing more than a promising studio gone awry. In this cut-throat industry, a small studio stands very little chance unless it produces an amazing overall package for its first game, and then continues to show that quality for at least 2 or 3 consecrative IPs after that. This is ideally done through a single publisher from the start. Instead, Petroglyph jumped on a classic franchise bandwagon, moved onto Sega, who don't have a clue about third party games support, then in a struggle to stay afloat, have joined an online games publisher using the above MMO model. This is extremely risky and could bankrupt the hell out of them before the game even gains a foothold. P04 has interest from a couple of publishers, but not much more has been said recently.... but that's probably because I'm not a member of moderator staff at the official site no more. All I know is that Petroglyph need to pull their head out of their asses and pop the bubble around itself, so the few remaining fans they actually have left can determine what the hell is going on over there. They are rather destitute company which quite frankly could do with a company like EA to guide them, publish their games, take them over or whatever. That way they might have a true sense of direction, instead of looking like a hard-up company with no real credit to their name other than George Lucas' own Intellectual Property. -
I'm no modder, but details on RA3 are still sketchy at best. Looking around the modding community, it seems like most are waiting for patch 1.05 for RA3 to come out before making any strong commitment to modding the title. The patch will include world-builder, but that's apparently not much different from the current C&C 3 version... although EA did mention that it could be used as a modding tool as well... Banshee of PPM highly doubts that however. The ETA on the RA3 mod-SDK is also unknown. It may not be coming out for a couple of months yet. For most people this will be the primary port of call. As for programs.... well it depends entirely what you want to mod and how far you want to take it. The most basic form of modding (and sometimes the most effective) is the editing of the game's XML files. Just make sure you back up the original to somewhere safe before you play with those though. Outside of that if you're not looking to change the core areas. 3D Studio Max is a great program to edit or create textures, and other graphical stuff. as well as editing or creating new units. Conversion can be a little tricky, but programs such as 3D Object Converter can be good for the job. These do cost money however. On the free side of the coin, there are programs like OS BIG Editor, and Final BIG, these will open the games .BIG files, so you can edit the .ini files like you would in some of the older C&C games. Instructions on how to use will generally be at the programs source websites... In the case of 3DS Max, sites like PPM can help out tutorial wise.... Hope that helps. As I said, I'm not a modder, but I know a few basic principles that should help you get started until the RA3 Worldbuilder and the Mod SDK show up. Also, once patch 1.05 is out, we'll make a dedicated modding forum for RA3, so hold on in there... it's all about waiting for EA to deliver the goods.

Both topics on the soundtrack have been merged... Seamlessly too!

Awwww, the friendship between a dog and a duck.... and then there's this..... Shot in the early thirties, a man finally finds a use for his wife!

You mean like this absolutely beautiful piece of music that was in the Platoon movie Samuel Barber's 'Adagio for Strings' was perhaps one of my father's favourite pieces. It's not hard to see why...

Maybe that's because there's a stark simularity between Ivana Miličević (Dasha) and a certain someone and something... & & Between Ivana, Marty Feldman and a Pug.... I'll be damned if I can tell the difference!

The lighting was quite good this time... doesn't need a massive improvement really. Just a couple of shadows here and there, but unless you're paying massive attention it isn't too bad at all. Audio is tip-top this time, the new mic does wonders. The only thing now is the confidence, which is improving a lot. I know what it's like trying to talk into a camera having done it myself back in the school days. It was bad enough with the old podcast idea that I piloted a couple of years back now.. I sound like a right drunken pommy! Still do actually..
