I suppose some of us just have that alligence to Sony that we just can't ignore... Fact is that if we wanted a PC in a box, for $149, we could make our own... it runs on a 733Mhz Processor with 128MB RAM and a 128MB Geforce FX chip... some people have managed to build one up exactly like it and create Emulation Software to run the games on a PC... The Xbox is nothing special it's just an outdated PC with a very basic Kernal of Windows running inside it.... That's where I give full marks to Sony and the PS2, at least this machine was built from scratch, not some PC with software in it that some 14 year old with the knowledge to build one can create to play X-Box games on his PC That in my opinion is what seperates the 2 consoles... the difference in hard work that went into them both. Which really Microsoft hardly put any work into at all... :roll:

In a nutshell it means that that games have been transferred to use the Half Life 2 Engine... while the games remain the same in shape and size. Afterall Nod try and cheat and lie with their propoganda so a Nod information Minister would work well... such classic quotes from the Baghdad Bob could be used in the next C&C such as.... OK C&C will still have it's serious points, but I think the game would have an impact on potentially a larger audience, and will give us something just to laugh about when comedy like this comes about.... It was used in Tiberian Sun when Oxanna was aparently dead and then walks into the TV station, OK that was a one off... but to have this guy speak now and again in cutscenes from GDI & Nod mission breifings or mission accomplished movies would be cool

Yeah I hated it cos the controller's crap... and Halo sucked anyway for me... it wasn't anything special.. neither was unreal 2, but I found that more exciting.

No different in netscape to be honest.. Netscape has come along way since the old terrible days... I quite like this, it has tabbed browsing, so it's perfect for the news posting on the main page.

It's the next generation argument on who's better, not so much in the power stakes as such, but who is the better company. It's the Sega Vs Nintendo war, but now it's Sony Vs Microsoft... Personally I don't care, if the official X-BOX controller didn't feel like I was holding a a VHS box in my hands then maybe I would of had one of those instead. Fact is, Sony have got Ergonomic playing comfort perfect... The pad is small and perfectly formed. You don't have feel like you're carrying a heavy lunchbox in your hands with buttons on... the X-Box controller is awful, I hate it! But I don't see why everyone thinks wow the X-box has more power it's better... So what, if it plays games, I don't care. But if it's poorly designed which the X-Box is, I'd prefer something else. So lets put this into perspective shall we, on the terms personifying the consoles. X-Box - One of those ugly girlfriends you bring home when your drunk, you're amazed by her looks cos she seems to have everything, but that's only because you've had 10 pints of beer and half a dozen shots. But once you sober up and take a look at her, you think my god what have I done. But this woman has alot inside to offer, and she has many hidden talents, in fact she'll domineer you and take control and you'll be forced to like her because like her... Corporate Microsoft has brainwashed you just like they did with Windows. Playstation 2 - Compare this to an elvis impesonator. Everybody loves elvis. He's the King, liked when he first come out, and this guy who impersonates him is only second best. This guy is basically your bar entertainment for the night cos you love elvis and decided to go see him. But once you have a drink too many you turn away from Elvis and get aquainted with the women in the bar... you just happen to set your eyes on miss Ugly X-box overthere. Elvis is now overshadowed and is stuck with a large Cheese Burger which makes him look fat and slow.. and is forced to leave the building. Gamecube - Compare this console to the little bratt you see playing on the street in your neighbourhood. When you first see him he looks so small, so cute, and he plays cutesy games like Mario and Monkeyball. But when the adults are not looking his personality is strange and deformed, just like the Gamecube's pad, and he isn't that cute looking Kid, he is infact an annoying little pest, nobody really wants to know him because of his behaviour record, and thus nobody cares about him. And thus like in this conversation he hasn't been mentioned until now.

Yeah he's been in a few films, perhaps the biggest being Blade, as one of the head council of Vampires. Unfortunately he gets burnt to a crisp on the rocks at a beach, but I love Udo's voice, very unique. I always thought he was putting it on for show, but he speaks exactly like that. General Carville (Barry Corbin) has been in too many things to remember... the latest thing he's in is a series called "One Tree Hill" As a gym class teacher... the guy never changes.... Tanya (Kari Wurher) she's never really got off the ground as far as acting goes... Eight Legged Freaks was the best film she got in and that was still crap... I think to some extent those who played in Red Alert 2 got their careers (if they had any to start with) ruined... At least in Tiberian Sun Westwood got decent actors in to do the job... real talent... compared to Red Alert 2... I can't understand how Joe Kucan managed to go through with directing half that trash in RA2 is beyond me. In fact that probably killed Joe's chances of actually securing any movie directing in the future.... I think the only person that could do C&C FMV sequences in the future would be Joe.. EA in my mind need to employ him, and make outstanding use of him... cos if this is C&C 3 coming as the next RTS then without Joe as Kane and without Joe directing (if there are gonna be any FMV sequences) C&C 3 is just gonna be a large pile of crap. :roll:

I wouldn't worry about getting a PS2 now, but it's up to you... The PS3 (working name) will be released this time next year at earliest and january, february 2006 at the latest.. I know this because IBM have been working on a CPU that is aparently 5 times more powerful than the X-BOX. That was finished 3 weeks ago, and was the last component left to be built for the prototype PS3. Sony now are now finishing the programming for the game creation template kit and the operating system that works when the console starts up. Once that's done Sony, EA, and a small handful of developers will be invited to Japan next month to view the prototype and be given the kit to start the creation of a few launch games. The PS3's announcement will not be made until there are 250,000 machines ready to ship and the launch games are complete. Sony are currently focussing their efforts on the Playstation Portable (PSP) which will basically threaten the Gameboy Adavance and set up a strong competition market... The handheld is said to be more powerful than the PSone but have the graphical looks of the early PS2 games... Here's a couple of screenshots from Need For Speed: Underground rivals.. They look good, but anyway.. Once the PSP is released Sony will aparently give the handheld a few months. Then at E3 2005 the powerful X-BOX Killer will be unearthed, and not a moment before!

I have to use Netscape.. Internet Explorer crashes on mine all the time and I dunno what's wrong with it... All others I've tried, i just don't like or because they use files from Internet Explorer, they have the same problem.. ok Netscape sucks but it does the job. Yes I've tried reinstalling Internet Explorer, Yes I've re-installed windows... but whatever the problem is it isn't file related, my IE is just so unstable I cannot use it, and if I can I can't close or minimise the damn window without bringing up the task manager to shut it down manually!! Damn Microsoft! :roll:

2 Weeks, that's all you have and my decision is final.. it's time to prioritise I'm afraid. You may be webmaster, but Sonic has given me the director role here and the opportunity to help the site when needed. I'll give you a list of criteria on what I want to see from you guys.. Abumm needs to get in line with the terms and conditions set. This is one of the main reasons I have recommended Abumm for shutdown. Below are examples.... <li> The layout needs to be improved.. You've got Poll's and cgi scripts all over the place with no real presentation to the site, it looks messy and very unatttactive. <li> You have MP3s on the site I believe. A massive no no here, unless you have asked Frank Klepacki for you to host his music and he has given you written concent, and Sonic has seen it. The Red Alert soundtrack should not even be on there! <li> Large files on the FTP and the FTP structure. FTP needs to be simplified. I'm looking inside the folders now.. You have folders with your names on that have no significance to the site whatsoever. You also have Renegade Tools and stuff in excess of 8MB which have not been cleared by us first. These are large files, and another breach of the Network Rules. <li> Our hosted sites can not host more sites below them. I see a Fist of Fate folder, it has a cnews folder inside it.. that to me constitutes as another hosted site. These are just a few, there are more, but I don't see why I have to spell it out for you. I will give you until Friday to sort out the FTP itself. After that I will go in there and personally delete duplicates, and anything else I don't see fit.. these will not be backed up first either..... That's all I have to say.

OK tell you what... You have 2 weeks to rebuild Abumm into something worth visiting, otherwise you are gonna have to say goodbye to it. You've been working on other sites, wanting to make others, and when you're busy with those, you say on Abumm it's because you can't get to the computer that you can't update the site... Your priorities do not lie with Abumm, you've made that clear... Now I've decided that if you cannot stick with Abumm and make it a priority amongst the 3 or 4 other sites you're trying to work at, then I will ask Sonic to close it down.... I got you this space for a reason and you're abusing it clearly, as I delete crap on the servers that shouldn't be on there... You want more storage space buy a hard drive. You showed promise when you first got this web-space, you had game servers running, staff making maps, and now you have hardly anything, you're off making cnc-modding.net, focussing on a Dune 2000 Renegade mod, and This Fist Of Fate as well, and then you worry about Abumm in the weekends.. It's not on!! Right I'm setting a date... I'm giving you until 10:00am on the 18th October to make improvements to the site.... otherwise I'm getting Sonic to have Abumm shut down!!!

It's not the only thing I'd come to New Zealand for, but I find when you go on holiday you must experience the culture.. mingle with the public instead of just sitting in a hotel for 2-4 weeks and swimming about... if I want a holiday I wanna be a part of the country I'm in, not secluded from the hustle and bustle and the sights and sounds of the country.. what's the point in a holiday if you're just gonna be on a beach or in your hotel all the time??

it tries to be silent hill and resident evil with a bit of its own stuff thrown in, nothing special.. playe it a few times, got bored, same as I do with most horror games, they don't keep me entertained long enough

Sonic and other New Zealanders won't understand why, but New Zealand is my choice... Just looking at the mountains and lakes in some areas, the serene unspoilt countryside looks so damn breathtaking... Plus the Maori culture there is second to none... I'd love to experience the welcoming of the Maori to one of their villiages, my mate's done it and he always wanted to see the traditional Haka in person... lucky bastard :roll:

Well you've gotta get something out the bag... otherwise there's no reason for Abumm to be up I'm afraid... I wish I could do sites concerning EA on this network, but then before you know it, it's flooded with games... and basically this network has never done anything other than RTS games... I would love to do a Need for Speed Underground Web-site. That has so much potential, cos I wouldn't do just focus on the game itself, I would add in all sorts of real life tuner events and everything... go beyond the call of that site.... Only thing I can suggest if you wanna save Abumm is go beyond the call of Renegade Alert and focus on all First Person Renegade & C&C style mods. I'm talking about Reborn, The Dead 6, Verge Of Armageddon, Fist of fate, the star wars mod and also RA2: Vengence... It's gonna mean a new layout, new banner, and everything, but it's all I can suggest to avoid Abumm being shut down...but look at it this way... with the new advertising from gaming source coming in soon you may have to consider a new layout anyway..... Your call, either take this route of risk losing the webspace guys.... I personally think it's a very good idea to cover all the First Person C&C games on one site.... as far as I know no-one else has this subject area covered, so you'll be the first.

Well it's not nuclear, runs off coal to generate power so I'd imagine it's OK otherwise it wouldn't be allowed... The only things that are nuclear is the army barracks close to the power station. It's a secret nuclear silo base as well... yet it's so secret everyone knows about it... As well as that we have a nuclear research facility down the road in the next villiage.... So we're not exactly safe from attack in this town with 3 primary targets :lol:

Beautiful, that's all I can say... I love the look of New Zealand and would love to go.. The urban landscape doesn't look as tarnished as in some cities which are horrible. Here's an overview of Didcot, my town, yes that is 2 power stations next to the housing!! Here's the building where my wedding reception's taking place.. Then there's the church I'm getting married in... OK it's a modern church, but it looks great inside, and it was the only church me & my fiance can get married in.

I hate horror really, it's because I don't believe in ghosts and stuff, I find that sort of thing pathetic, even in games.... But saying that there was one game I did like that come out on the PS2 a while back and that was Ghosthunter. That was quite freaky, walking into a building to see poltergeists throwing stuff around a room and trying to hit you with Tv's or chairs... It was like ghostbusters, but not kids stuff. Although it wasn't scary, it was an engrossing game.... I just find games like resident evil and that boring :roll:

I don't have the war in middle earth ROM on my emulator CD :cry: I'm gonna have to search the emulation & Retro gaming communities to find it... it's gotta be on the net somewhere... If I do find it, I'll post a few screenshots of it running

I wouldn't call it a challenge as such, but is it possible to make up a CD player program, or is that too big a task? Media Player sucks and for some reason Winamp won't work on my system correctly... and my current MP3 player will only play MP3's.. If not remind me what other prizes there are apart from the banner signature and a map for RA2/YR....

You just have... No gaming servers anymore... Well that cuts down alot of the site's potential... You guys better come up with some more features for the site instead of just mirroring the news on RenAlert... Fair enough it's a RenAlert site, but you must give it something to stand out, cos we can just post that sort of news on the CNCNZ news page... We need some map makers or something to start doing some kick-ass maps.. But the fact is you are not running any of your own servers... so really you're backed into a corner.... As Sonic says there are enough modding sites to make us sick and tired... so how you gonna sort this one out. Because without an outstanding feature I will have to suggest Abumm's shutdown in the near future....

Yep, if it's in the books and the movies it should be in this. Aparently it's been said that every major battle is definately in this game. Plus anything to do leading up to them or even getting to those battles will obviously have a few Skirmishes along the way. Obviously there are plenty of missions which have their base building parts to play... some of these will be tied into the storyline, others wil be added on as sub-plots which link in some way to the storyline. There will also be mission like covert operations in which you just control heroes and a few select troops.. these will be linked the joruney Frodo takes to destroy the ring. The good factions final few missions are likely to centre around the huge final battle and Frodo's last ditch attempts to get to the top of death mountain before Sauron's eye of evil destroys all hope of victory. Whether or not these 2 can be played simultanously using the large living map of middle earth instead of 2 seperate missions remains to be seen. But in a way I hope that taking on those 2 most vitally important parts of the story in simultaneous fashion.. or even the choice to choose one or the other while showing some sort of real time update on the other (alternate) mission. It needs to be done somehow in my eyes as this is afterall the climax of the whole trilogy. How it's portrayed in the book of the Return of the king is so much better, and much more ripping however. It was an excellent interpretation in the film, I just hope EA manage to convert the happenings into this RTS PC game.
