A big change, but Zero Hour ran fine after I did it, and that was upgrade XP to professional. SP2 isn't installed, so it isn't that.. Other software wise, A reinstallation of RenAlert .993,and a couple of old games... other than that a downloads of a few MP3's and a couple of music videos... Done my usual weekly Virus check, monthly disk checks and defragmentations,,, got 17GB of space left so no worries about virtual memory... there's nothing I've done that I consider to be of any damage to the files on the disk.... I've known in the past that if structures explode in this manner it's an anti-piracy thing, but I dunno if that's true... All my C&C Games are legitimate obviously, for my peace of mind and the comps safety... It's really bugging me this... totally confusing. :?

If you have Sierra's gaming client steam, you can now download Half life 2 ready for it's release.. I decided to play Counter strike last night and it come up with "Pre-load Half life 2 for release"... I thought OK, could do, but then decided against it as I don't have enough space on my system to download stuff I'm not gonna use

I wonder how many people without 32-bit motherboards go out and buy this thinking it as an update to windows Xp or 2003... Really Longhorn should only be sold with new PCs and those retailers who supply new PC components. Because I can see, come 2006 when it's out, our tech support forums being flooded, and anywhere regarding tech support will have a field day answering the same problem. 64 bit despite it being relatively new will become a thing of the past soon. Aparently within the next 10 or so years PC's will be running at Terrahertz clock speeds, with terrabyte hard drives, and will have a 1 million bit component MOBO... that's from the same computer magazine that mentioned the use of DVD's in 1994, TFT Monitors in 1991, and the 64 bit computer as mentioned here back in 1997.

Question is are ew gonna see something different with Longhorn? I don't really want the same interface to be honest... move that start button, keep the icons. Obviously don't make it harder to use, but Windows needs a serious overhaul.. Its looked like minor updates every version since windows 95... I do hope this is a new breed... gives me an excuse to buy a new PC

Forum admin have no need for usernames and passwords, once you are assigned admin status you automatically have full contol over the forums. As for CNCNZ, as much power as I do have over this site I wouldn't administrate it unless I was proficient in web-design and just that bit better in Photoshop 7 or Paint shop pro. I'd be afraid to touch the sites layout, which is why when I run other sites, I leave that to vice-webmasters... But if you were to say to me, OK control the HTML, links in the sidebars, and anything to do with the code, then I'm fine, I'm a bit sketchy on CGI and configuring the news, but these are still reletively new to me as I've rarely had to encounter them myself... I'm quite happy with my position... One thing I won't do again is work at 3 web-sites at once. CNCNZ, my own CNCNZ clan site, and I once had full administration access to cnc-world when Cabal went to Africa. I ran the site alongside chickendippers who at the time was for some reason AWOL, who then returned the day after Cabal left.... that was an honour, but I never accessed the FTP during the time I was there.. just posted news which was mirrored word for word from CNCNZ.

It's true though, broadband is really expensive unless you live in the USA where the Mbps is becoming cheap and mainstream... I have a 750k Broadband connection.. I pay in GBP £24.99 a month for that. Downloads are great, and playing games online is so much better, but when you hear of T1 & T3+ and 100Mbps connections going at something like US $32 a month you think that the land of the free are just hogging this technology... OK they're not hoggin it, but blame the telecom providers for not getting the technology installed fast enough to allow less expense and more speed... But anyway, why would anybody need a speed faster than 1Mbps anyway???

Hitler was blaming Jews way before the 1929 wall street crash, and even before the treatey of versaille crippled Germany. As I said the reasons for his hatred can be found in "Mein Kampf", if remember what I did with the copy of it on my computer... his hatred of Jews came in the form of what we experience from Asylum Seekers entering our countries, but on a much larger scale. In "Mein Kampf" Hitler goes to Vienna at the age of 16, and sees first-hand how bad things are, the stench, the poverty, this was something he experienced, but didn't like.. so in the later stage of the second chapter he joins a social-democratic meeting, which got him angered at the way Genermany was treated and it grew love for his own people. This was the catalyst of his hate for anything that opposed Germany and it's close neighbours. So he join the Social Democrats in opposition of the bourgeois. It was only the doctrines of the SD that even made him think about what Jews were to the SD and Germany... as he recalls Which is (according to Hitler) proof that he wasn't Jew hating at that time in his life... even right up to where he joined the ideals of the Social Democrats.. even in Vienna at the time he called the Anti-semitism papers there "all empty nonsense"... the thought of such racism made his blood boil..which then raises the question, where did his hatred come from, and how did he change so suddenly? Since his father was a nationalist. I'm not gonna quote from the book on how it happened, as it is strongly racist, but in general Hitler started to notice the difference between people of a christian religion, and those of a Jewish Religion.... Now the profound area of Christianity states that Jews are to be opposed, it's the anti-semitist side of Chritianity that's there, but any christian is ashamed to admit. This was strong in Hitlers mind. He found that those who lived in the squalor of Vienna were all Jews (which is a load of bull**** in my mind but I'll read on). He goes on to say all the Jews he encountered were unsanitary, unwashed, and basically were like tramps. This according to Hitler spread into the culture of life, be it the press or the Arts or whatever. It was a stereotype in his mind that clicked on like a light, he just turned because he was disgusted at poverty, and that poverty was the product and fault of the Jewish Community. Deeper down even more so, he found that when Germany's wars of the pre- 1900's were told about in the world press, they praised France, and smited Gemany... and the writers of this press - Jews. :roll: Now it is here where I think he was either heavily depressed or whatever, cos he goes on to say that the then realised that the Jews were the leaders of Social Democracy.... which goes agains everything he was struggling to understand... but he said his struggle to understand the politic tension of the time, was over. This is turn made him realise that the Social Democrats were not indeed not the idealistic party, but the one responsible for what he saw in Vienna. Hitler was indeed like other Germans, he was confused about the political light he saw... as he explains When he finally got his head round what was happening. Hitler decided that the political tensions, the misleading political climate had to end. Aparently he saw all the faults of Germany and it's neighbours being the responsibility of jews.. So he decided that if you want something done, you have to do it himself... and in the end of chapter 2 of "Mein Kampf" he says. Just like Osama Bin Laden today, he was a religious fanatic that found the inner workings of a religion that is never shed to light... Hitler found the inner meaning that Christainity is in some part an anti-semitist religion... he applied that to the modern day climate of his country, and found it in his heart to honour gods will to oppose Jews. So he worked on in life planning and working towards that goal NB. All views in this post are pure narration and my own interpretation of "Mein Kampf" None of which refelects my own views. I have had mein Kampf since 1998-99 when I was learning History and wrote something similar to this. I do not support Nazism and never will. All men being born equal.

Here's a good one to tell a story about. How did you end up with the name you use here in the community? Is Tree a tree surgeon? Does Sonic run as fast as the little blue sega mascot? And is chickendippers a chicken nugget fanatic? Or is there a more or less simpler explanation? Tell us right here... After I discovered TSNNZ I was searching for other sites, and this IRC chatroom was a big centre off a site called either CnC- Corner, CnC-Barracks or even the well known CnC-Central... anyway people were in there and needed somebody to help them with Tiberian Sun... oh lucky me! I came in with my old Area101 ID that I used on the TSNNZ forums, how that name was gonna change fast.. Anyway I and spent 3 hours in that room helping out over 20 or so people just on Tiberian Sun... after it had all ended people were amazed at the fact that I knew all the Tiberian Sun missions inside out from beginning to end on both GDI and Nod... Then one of them decides to give me a test on my C&C knowledge, thinking that I was just a so-called n00b know-it-all who knew nothign but Tiberian Sun... So he asks me to list the elements and gasses of Tiberium and there percentages... I being absolutely eating sleeping and brething C&C at the time told him the correct elements, gasses, and their percentages. Other questions came up, like on Red Alert what is mission 8 of Allies, Mission 5 on soviets, and in Tiberian Dawn what is Mission 10 on GDI, Mission 3 on Nod. And once again I instantly started typing down what the missions were about and even what countries they took place in.. Ask me to do that now, and I couldn't tell ya... that's how addicted I was to C&C at the age of 16... The questions kept coming and I'd tell them correctly instantly. All this stunned the chat users and I was given the title "C&C King" through being a walking talking C&C encyclopaedia which was more accurate and had more information than the version on C&C Planet right now. Some people think this name is my big EGO speaking, and that's generally why I don't have as much respect as many of the other community staff, as my name gives me a common misconception. Unless it's Renegade, I'm totally crap at C&C games online.... Single player that's a different story. But I hate getting e-mails with people saying that they can take my title... so I tell them this story and then I say, They can't do it, it shuts them up and I get massive respect for telling them this explanation of how I got my name.

I had pictures on that mod, but it never got off the ground... best to wait and hope that Verge of Armageddon gets off the ground, it has more potential, and although you will need battlefield Vietnam to play it, it'll be very good indeed.

I found the movie, very suprised that it's a german film cos they hate to talk about the war and their history. But this movie does explain everything that I mentioned above. Very interesting, by what I gathered from the trailer, and my German is very rusty it's centred alot on the fall of Berlin and several times the words "the end is near" and "How will we survive the end" are commonplace. Even Hitler mentioning he's "scared" there is alot of emotion in the dialogue in the trailer by the tone of the actors voices and the words I managed to pick out... it'll be interesting to watch it.

Agreed, it was like the office, that was on some obsure channel and was hugely popular.. then NBC decide to buy the idea from Ricky Gervais and put there own American Actors in it to refelct an American office... It flopped. Even though it had the same great funny script as the original.. Americans just are not funny unless Matt Groening uses them in the Simpsons.. British Comedy is really funny to those Americans who are witty enough to understand it, but if an amercan comedy version is converted from the hugely popular English equilivant, then the Americans just murder it.

Firstly I must apologise if this seems like a bltent excuse to get people talking in the forums, because it is! But I'm not allowing these forums to go stale so I'll try anything to get useless or interesting information out of you guys so we have something to discuss :wink: Anyway... Anything Interesting on TV that's gripped or annoyed you lately in your part of the world... I'm not talking about international programs that get shipped out of America like 24, or friends, I'm looking more at televised programs made in your own country. It can be anything, comedies, documentries, hell even if you've got a crappy gameshow that gets on your nerves, tell us about it...

Despite what history makes of him, he wasn't all bad. The media and historians want you to think he was 100% ruthless and angered with Anti-semitism all the time... But Hitler was "apparently" a paranoid Schitzophrenic, or extremely depressed. The reason why you won't find it in any history textbook is because that has the potential today to destroy his title as an evil dictator. The result to history could be catastrophic, since mental health research suggest even the friendliest people can turn evil due to extreme depression or Schitzophrenia. Cos Hitler was human, he had a caring side, he loved gardening for god's sake! He'd melt at the sight of a cute puppy, he'd cry if something upset him. This was the other side of his split personality. If you've ever seen the private videos of him in his mountain top castle mansion, he was a polite man, who loved to socialise, drink and dance. Far from the man of steel who you see in public videos, alot of it was an act. Sure he had hatred, and killed 6 million innocent people which quite frankly disgusts me, but hitler, he's not all he's cracked up to be you know. The guy loved Britain, he never wanted to go to war with Britain, he found the people there polite and friendly and even respected Churchill very highly. We forced him to war so he could protect his own ass. Simple as that.... It sounds like I'm sticking up for the guy, but the fact remains, history has depicted him as pure evil at all times... he was only like that when in public. I've read "Mein Kampf" through pure interest to see how his mind ticked psychologically. Although it was alot of Nazi propaganda, and full of hate for the jews, it does expose the reasons why he was aiming to do what he did, and certain truths about himself which are not lies. That is the reason "Mein Kampf" is banned, those who are extremists will automatically ignore the crap and get sucked in with the racial hatred. But if your like me and with an open mind, forgetting any morals you may have and staying neutral, you find out more about the man than you think.

Time for another one of these since most people do buy games more often than underwear so here goes: 1) Second Sight - PS2 - New game from the makers of Timsplitters, only been out a week in the UK, bought it yesterday, with #2. 2) Simpsons Hit & Run - PS2 - Played the demo, loved it, Just bought it bought it on platinuim quite cheap! 3) Force 21 - PC - Dug out an old RTS of mine, far from the best, but I enjoy it. 4) Perimeter - PC - I won't bore you, you know what it is, I love this game! 5) Renegade Alert - PC - Playing this solid some days don't make me get bored of it, now I have more PS2 games it'll tear me away from this great TC!

Sonic does the forum news posts every 1-3 months, that usually brings in a few more people, but then they don't return. Some of the people who register find these forums too quiet, fact is that if they stayed, got to know the locals round here, then have the forums work that way.. we'd get more people. Mind you I do like this forum as it is, a small close community where we know more about each other than just our names... The only Qualm I'd have about you guys who post here hough is that you don't start enough of your own topics in this General discussion forum. Those who do are usually spam topics that only end up in the recycle bin. But if you have a decent and interesting point to share, then share it. Don't keep the lid tight and sit on it. The only people that can bring more people here and keep things alive are us... So get a few more topics going, find that friend who likes C&C and the internet and tell them to get their butts in here, it'd make ll the difference.

update your graphics drivers would be the 1st port of call, even if they are updated anything's possible, also what is your graphics card? This may be RA2 but there's no guarentees when it comes to graphics cards.

There is aparently a way to get C&C DOS working on XP, but I cannot remember where I saw it... but somehow if I remember rightly, it wasn't legitimate :roll:
