If they weren't that great, they wouldn't still be around after 15 years? In terms of lyrical and musical quality, this is one of the best songs ever released by them... I expect another 10 years out of them yet!

Singapore.... C&C's versions of Starcraft's Korea. You're a lucky fella. Some of us have to wait until Friday!

Can we start using this thread for videos and direct comments on them. And not unrelated discussions beyond the previous video please. Warnings will be dealt out for non-compliance on this matter. Thanks.

AI and pathfinding can be fixed... if the campaign sucks then so be it... it'll prove that EA really need to step up a few gears and will have to sort out their acts in this department. Watch my opinion in the upcoming review... I can hammer down and find the real experience pretty quickly. If this campaign is a load of balls you'll know.. Just don't expect the same flaming rampage as with C&C 3 this time

That's gotta be Sarcasm Hagren, you've been an ambassador to the whole "keep your chin up" attitude.... so I'm gonna ignore that statement

There may be an interest when they announce the P03 MMO, or the p04 or p05 RTS games they're working on. They were supoosed to announce something at the Austin Games Dev Conference back in September, that never happened. Yep, there are 3 projects in the works... one is half done, another is around 25% done, and another is in concept stages.... when they actually make an effort to show something to the public, then maybe we will care again... But I'm in no rush to..... Myself and especially Sonic have put so much effort into that community, only to be bitterly disappointed with the whole Petro scene... so why should we care that they are 5, when there's nothing really special about them and their community. oh, and moved to the Petro forum....

lol beat me to it, but I got rid of the offending discussion

In Hindsight, Westwood died after during the development of Tiberian Sun. Took me ages to come to terms with it, but I'm gonna be honest. Westwood were great up to 1998, but then it was all downhill from there... If Westwood were so great, why do Petroglyph suck at RTS development? That's where most of the guys are now... need I say anymore?

What's amused me is that they say the gameplay is too fast. They better not have bumped up the speed, or this will turn my opinion of the gameplay upside down. I enjoyed the current speed, it was just right. If it's become another case of listening too much to the so-called "Hardcore" I will seriously pull my hair out!

Not really, it may be a slight increase, but it's barely noticeable. Most games these days just require the CD's to authorise the installation. Such a method is really a built in "No-CD" patch of sorts. But if you have a PC that's capable enough to run Red Alert 3, you should have the resources to cope with the extra memory load these games require anyway.

This is actually the real reason. The amount of revenue lost by games companies due to the pre-owned market even eclipses the loss made by the number of Pirate downloads. Konami made this ultimately clear a few years back, and EA stuck up for them. Before the courts told them to shove the idea of killing the system where the sun don't shine, since the pre-owned system helps the economies of the towns the game's retailers reside in. But the fact remains, most games retailers wouldn't have a business if it wasn't for this market.

Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway is getting quite a bit of coverage here. The last C&C game to get any sort of advertising coverage here in the UK was Renegade, before that Tiberian Sun got a few mentions. Suprisingly though there's nothing in the games shops to say Red Alert 3 is on it's way. The games shops are blank with not even a pre-order option (even in GAME), there's no TV coverage or magazine ads either. Either I'm living under a rock, or there's just way too much internet marketing and very little else here in the UK. Well, OK there's that thing going on in London the day before RA3 is released, but that's still small scale in comparison to C&C 3's UK media advertising.

Nicely done! More professional than how Zee done it, and well presented too. Indeed, nerves will disappear and it will come out a little better as time goes on. I'd really try and press for something to amplify your voice a little more though, and although not too much of a worry, perhaps having a little more light to compensate for the slight darkness. Nevertheless, no discredit to Zee, but you've nailed the format to a higher standard than he has in the past! Many thanks for the shout out as well mate. I wasn't expecting that at all. That meant a lot to hear you say that.

It seems like a very solid compromise that strikes a balance between all parties involved. While not everything people wanted, I believe it works well enough to keep the legitimate user happy enough without going too crazy. Afterall, it's better than EA holding their stance and not moving. Hopefully this will clear up the confusion and such. But like recover said, they better stick to it.

I have to say no one can fault the marketing campaign of Red Alert 3. It's been truly brilliant every step of the way. This must be Silverman's doing surely?

I'm buying Red Alert 3 and Valkyria Chronicles at the end of the month. Strategy titles come first, so games like Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 will have to wait. To be honest, both games are not too high on my wishlist... There's Need For Speed Undercover on the 14th Nov as well.... So I'm pretty tight on the budget.

I play a lot of chess. In fact I'm more of a turn based Strategy player all round. I'm a big fan of the Civilization series, I own every strategy game on my PSP which are all turn based, and I've ripped through every version of Advance Wars on the Nintendo handhelds..... so I'm no stranger to the genre. I've just never seen what the hype surrounding Starcraft has been about. I first gave it a go on release day when a friend of mine was going nuts about it. I found the maps bland, the gameplay wooden, and the story extremely slow to get into. Sure people say the story is great, but if a game makes no attempt to suck me in from the start.... I'm not interested. About a year ago DD got me interested in Starcraft again for a short period. Until I started playing the game again. It then promptly got uninstalled and I vowed never to touch it again. Which is how I came to either selling or binning it... I'll speak for Zee here as well, he hates Starcraft too. I'm not against Blizzard games though. I loved Warcraft 2 and I found Warcraft 3 to be quite fun as well. That in itself is unusual since I'm not usually a fan of fantasy based RTS games. Personally I'd prefer Warcraft 4 over Starcraft 2 any day.

She may actually be in the game, but will have a cameo role equal to that of showing her face while standing beside the Emperor. Then perhaps once again before promptly being shot right between the eyes by Natasha in a late game FMV.

Meh, it's Starcraft. Like the original before it, it's an RTS I will probably buy about 4 years after release in some Gold Final pack with expansion. I shall pay no more than about 33% of the original retail price, only to play the first 5 missions of the first campaign before swiftly chucking it in a corner, never to play it again! Yeah, so that's the life cycle of my copy of the original, which I have no idea to it's whereabouts..... I probably ended up selling it or threw it in the bin or something, cos it's not on my games shelf.
-
I 2nd that wholeheartedly... I played a Skirmish Game of Kane's Wrath today because I'm losing the will to wait patiently for Red Alert 3, and forgot how entirely pants the gameplay is in comparison. Now I'm close to becoming a hyped up wreck, and want RA3 more than ever!

Don't worry about the humour, I'm not the sort of person who gets offended of such things. My dad was a joker, he enjoyed a laugh, given half the chance he probably would laugh at your ideas too. His idea of a funeral was to be chucked in a cardboard box, and dug in the back garden. He even said to my nan that she isn't getting horse and cart treatment... she'd be chucked in a bag and taken down the rubbish dump! Yep, he was that sort of guy... never took life too seriously. Unfortunately that description of my father's death is the polar opposite. He died slowly, awake, and in a lot of pain.... all at the still very tender age of 53. Unfortunately he was in a lot of pain and was very ill for some time... So indeed, I am thankful we have had him this long. There are many good memories and he taught us a lot. He's also taught those who knew him, how not to live life. As a result, I will probably never touch a drink again, I liked to drink like he did (although not as much as he did)... and I can say, after what has happened to my father, I'm T-Total from now on. And for those of you who have read this and feel not like posting more vids out of some sort of fear or respect for the matter... don't let this part of the thread stop you. Keep on posting regardless!

My EA working friend (who I lost contact with some years ago - who of which got me to play Renegade a week early in 2002-) contacted me on facebook this morning offering me some tickets. Unfortunately I had to decline since I'm so sick of driving several 400 mile round trips over the last fortnight, and I'll be getting my copy on that Thursday anyway

I'm going all morbid here.... This is one of my father's favourite songs, so I chose this to be his funeral march on Friday. May he Rest In Peace

Oh here we go again. Given 12 months of this fine Georgian calendar, I'm guessing you'll have 1,980 threads. Each congratulating people's birthdays, and you'll probably go well out of your way to wish yourself a happy birthday! There's a birthday thread a good few pages back, why don't you bump that instead!? Anyway HB to TSH.
