It always was a good one in the original red alert... A long line of sneaky ore silos leading from your base to your opponents, only to slam down a Tesla Coil on the cliff above, causing sheer carnage and distress to your opponent. I suppose they want to strengthen the need and use of expansion units. Oh well, it's been a fun tactic for the last 13 years.

It's more plausible than the Steady State theory. That's a fact

insert correct CD-Rom 'Generals' glitch
Saracen replied to P-Dub247's topic in Tech Discussion & Support
64 Bit operating systems aren't exactly a haven for gamers. They cause problems... Stupid as this might sound, have you tried running the program as an administrator? This "insert CD" is the most common problem for people who don't run the game as an administrator. Also make sure you have full ownership to the folder directory the game is installed in. Go to the folder, right click it, then click Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner > Edit > Select your username > Tick Replace Owner box > Apply. This should fix the problem in most cases. -
To be honest... to do that they'd need to crank another 2 years of development out of it, while coming up with something innovative to make it special. And really since Will Wright has been tainted by corporate management, there is no innovation left at EA Maxis... cos let's face it, Spore is to innovation what Windows Vista is to XP.

Before people start calling you an idiot, let's take it to the other theory of the universe. The Steady State theory. In other words, the belief that the universe has and always will exist. While being disproved with many theoretical flaws therefore, (due to microwave radiation left from the big bang).. how about elaborating on that and heading towards the Quasi Steady state theory (which was another flawed theory developed by the same scientists to patch up the Steady state theory)... I wanna see your take on that. But as it goes, the big bang is the only explainable answer, because every other theory has been rubbished by the great Steven Hawking. The whole point in this LHC experiment is to find the missing links and to strengthen the big bang theory, possibly on route to making it scientific fact. Sure, humans may be wrong about the universal creation. Maybe Christians are half right and God had a bad weekend out with too many beers a few million billion years ago and puked his guts up into a vacuum. The result being that he ended up drowning and dying in his own vomit. We're just sitting on his large crusty hot gravitational puke... who the hell knows!

It would have to be online of course. Face to face is a dangerous place for the anti-social, maladjusted, recluse people of this world. But even then you could be putting Mina at a severe risk of clinical trauma!!

It's best as a MAC and iPhone app, but nothing more... I like the way they're bundling it with Quicktime like they've done with iTunes. It annoys me such that I download updates of Quicktime to use that particular app, and get numerous other Apple related freebies that I simply don't want. What's even worse is that I don't have a damn choice in opting out of installing them. To be honest I'd rather have the Like of EA and other devs use High Def WMV, than MP4 files... it would be the perfect excuse to get rid of all of Apple's Crap off my machine for good! Which reminds me:

Well the last day for sign-ups is today, and well, I imagine the Beta servers will be shut down once the game goes Gold. I imagine then GameSpy will convert the Beta servers over ready for the full game's online features.

Oi! Watch your language BlackOut!! That's disrespecting the real Hell and you know it! In fact I'd much rather go to Hell on my holidays than go to the dark fiery community chasm of putrid dystopia! oh, and Hi Silverthorn...

Don't create multiple threads on the same topic guys... Both have been merged.

She's a twiglet, a rake, a club, an anorexic goat....a size zero! I can't stand women like that. She looks like she's gone on a 6 month hunger strike in protest of the fact that she was a perfect 10! I could get my hand around that waist, it's a bit.... *shudders*.... I hope she doesn't wear anything else similar to what Gina's wearing. If I wanted to see ribs, I'd go to a Chinese restaurant! At least they'd look tasty smothered in sweet and sour sauce! Right, that's my complaints about the Allied and Soviet Freaks of nature done with... What circus act does the EoTRS have in store for us?

Your loss then. Tom Clancy RTS games in the past haven't exactly been the best. In fact they've been bloody terrible. I don't expect much from Endwar, neither do I expect it to be as great as people are hyping it to be. At least with Red Alert 3, you're getting a tried and tested formula, and best of all, it's actually as close to the authentic Westwood style that countless community members have been aching for, for some time now. In fact, it's an RTS, what more are you asking for? The RTS genre isn't exactly fresh, it doesn't scream innovation any more anyway. What's been tried has been done many times before and anything recently innovative has failed. It's all about the quality of the clone nowadays rather than what's in it. After all, Red Alert 2 did Co-op multiplayer campaigns, so even that's not new in an RTS. To be honest, you haven't really said what you're against in this game. The reasons you put in your original post are hardly justifiable.

OK then, maybe not.. Reinstate Hell!!!! -
Giving S.T.A.L.K.E.R. another go, didn't get past the 2nd level of that. Dug out the original Rise of Nations again.... gotta love it! Act Of War, and it's expansion get's some C&C clone loving! Every Civilization game, and Alpha Centauri And I found this obscure RTS game on the 2 for £15 shelf in GAME, so I picked it up: Like Homeworld, but on a 2D Plane... All ships are organic and living, the resource is blood, your mothership gives birth to other ships rather than building them, and to upgrade your ships, you have to suck the genetic DNA out of your enemies! Not a brilliant game, but it's a slightly different take on the Space RTS genre, so what the hell it keeps me busy!

One thing you guys are forgetting. You can install more than 5 times with this game... The only thing you need to do is to be online when you uninstall the game, and then you get an install back into the kitty. If you were to install when your comp is connected to the net, and then in the future decided to uninstall when your internet is cut off, then you wouldn't get back that install, so your limit would be down to 4. Apoc has confirmed this fact on the official forums... -
New RA3 Tanya Trailer on GameTrailers TV Soon
Saracen replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
As I was watching that, I was hoping for a little old Tiberian Sun Grittiness, and have Tanya slit the throat of that dirty communist pig! I miss a bit of good old violence in the C&C games. That gives it some authenticity..... maybe the next C&C, make it a bit more brutal!!! -
RA3 Unit Profile - EoTRS Shogun Battleship
Saracen replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
I have to agree, the description is poorly written. Not the best use of descriptive English. It's been nerfed in the Beta, feels about right now. But as a result they've completely messed up the Allied Destroyer, it's now completely useless! I wouldn't say that, but it's not far off..... there's something I don't like about this unit either. Design wise, it looks great... but somehow I feel the lasers kinda ruin it... The guns should have been rail guns with the sound effects and animations to match. Along with it's current nerf, I believe this would have given it a profile of something to be feared, but respected. -
Ahh so that explains your preference to Kenyans rather that Eithiopians during the Olympics then. What's the difference? I always thought the Eithiopians would cost less on the food budget? Or was it this particular animation that sealed the deal?
-
HAHAHA.. pwned!!

Spread this around the net. Perhaps the best movie mashup I've ever seen... absolutely brilliant! Terminator Vs Robocop

lol... that's Cyriak for ya. A great animator, he needs a job.

Seagate's have had a thing about going down on me in the past. I've suffered 2 fully severe hard disk failures over the last 10 years because those Seagates decided to crap out on me, on my previous 2 PC's. As Sonic says Western Digital are the best choice. I've got a 400Gb one in my gaming rig right now, and it's been nothing but perfect. You get more bang for your buck with those things anyway.

You're also JohnWE's brother, and have been to a community summit... so I don't believe you'd qualify either. -

amen Banshee... And the guy in the 2nd video is spot on. This is why my friend helps others around the world to make cracks, so the legitimate users can play their games. I had to do the same with Frontlines: Fuel of War... SecuROM shoved a big digital "FU" up at me, so I cracked it just so I can play thing. The irony is I only have one drive as well. This copy protection will only bite users in the ass 5-10 years down the road when the install limits are used up. God knows how many times I've installed the original C&C's over the last 13 years under different PC configurations... The whole thing is a ticking time bomb for legitimate users. Regardless of what is said elsewhere. When the day comes where we have hundreds of people in our forums complaining about the fact they've used their install limit for a 5-10 year old Red Alert 3. I will take a disregard to the forum rules, stick my middle finger up at EA, and recommend these cracks to loyal consumers. -
Unfortunately it is. Spore can be summed up in one short sentence. A collection of 4 mini-games and one pint sized (often confusing, poorly developed) final game, where you design and choose the content. Sure, I've enjoyed it up to a certain point. But the space stage sucks. Imagine google maps with very limited options to navigate, and not having the ability to decipher where the hell you are on earth without passing your mouse over 1 of about 4000-10,000 dots to chose from. There's no nebulas, points of reference, or any clues as to where the hell things are without hovering your mouse over a particular solar system. The only clue you're given is an icon as to where your home system is. The interface in this mode is over complicated given you hardly use much of it, and there's just way too much mouse scrolling and navigating to do.... it makes you feel like a retarded dyslexic incapable of doing anything! I've stopped playing now. I've had my worth. If you've heard of this game, you've got the idea of what it's about. Overall it's not a particularly fun or exciting game, and it comes to a head in the space stage by being almost unplayable. Consider this post my review. Total score: 6/10 or more elaborately 6.3 out of 100
