Dayummm... people like her should be the villain(s) in the next Red Alert sequel. Mind control indeed. Yuri'd probably have a woody for a lady like this. "...because that's where the aliens live with their mind rays that are making everyone retarded!" -Worker. EDIT: For those living in the real world- present company included- Happy Christmas!

i want the originals and what are they?
Worker replied to a topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
Cygnus; I will admit, the groundmaps in Tiberian Sun have a fair bit more detail to them. I just wish the units weren't so damned _small_. That, and NOD's SDI satellites doing orbital strikes out of nowhere. Can't say that's a bad deal, danke for the data. I have three copies of TS and Firestorm in my 3 C&C Collections, so I probably won't be investing in a fourth set... still, that's a pretty good price, even in Cdn. dollars. -Worker, overall. PS: Yeah, I do like Rush. Cool that they're local, too; I finally remembered what you asked me. -
Question regarding 'Command & Conquer Collection' instal
Worker replied to Worker's topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
Have you or anyone else seen that error before? Cygnus X-1; Not that I can remember, at least the few times I've been on the XWIS servers. Didn't have a lot of success playing there, I'm afraid; one fellow who was quite patient with me ('R4MPMNMN' was his alias, or something like that) as it took a while for me to load up YR at my end, reported that I was not connecting at my end, while I thought I was... he was able to join games with other players there, so I have little doubt the trouble was at my end. Going to have to look into that. Anyhow, good to hear from you again! -Worker, overall. -
serial number question
Worker replied to LawyerNinja's topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
LawyerNinja; True, true. I think C&C King is probably right about finding a copy locally (i.e. the chance you'd find it at a local software/computer store)...still, I agree that it's not a huge investment. As it is I'm happy with RA2, YR and TibSun, but if the option comes up eventually I think I might 'order out' for TD. -Worker, overall. -
serial number question
Worker replied to LawyerNinja's topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
C&C King; Followed the above link, and it doesn't look like TD is available on Abandonia anymore. An organization of gaming companies, called ESA, is 'protecting' the game, and as I understand their explanation to be, is no longer available for download there. I decided to follow the link to the ESA page, and there were about 15-20 main homepage links (as opposed to being directly relevant to TD), the only one of which I thought would have to do with TD being Electronic Arts. Sorry to drop this on you, but I thought it best to report my findings rather than have folks going there and being disappointed. -Worker, overall. -
i want the originals and what are they?
Worker replied to a topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
<shrug> Only excuse I've got is that I haven't played Renegade yet. The other games in my C&C Collection I've at least tried (Tiberian Sun/Firestorm) or play regularly (RA2 and YR). I like Tiberian Sun, but IMO the AI and general gameplay is a lot different than Red Alert 2 or Yuri; the AIs in TS are a _lot_ smarter and sneakier. That, and even at low resolution the units and buildings are tiny compared to their counterparts in RA2/YR. I have trouble doing unit groupings because of it. Still, the cutscenes are more than worth it. -Worker, overall. -

Madbadger; For a while I had the same trouble. Stores like the aforementioned Business Depot/Staples have caught up to a fair degree here in Canada in the past ten years, and we've got strictly-game stores like EB Games and software outlets like Compucenter now that were either not present or not as well known in the past. Business Depot isn't strictly a software store- in fact, they've cut down on non-business software like PC games considerably in the past 18 months- but the bulk of the games I have now I bought there, including all three of my C&C Collections, the RA1 set, and games that go back as far as 'The Ultimate Doom' and 'Duke Nukem 3-D'. I don't know what the exact situation in the UK is in regards to PC games; still, if you're having trouble getting a physical copy in England, it shouldn't be especially difficult to order a copy overseas, although it'd certainly be more expensive i.e. shipping. Another option might be a completely online purchase, as it's becoming more common now. Hope this helps. -Worker, overall. -
Question regarding 'Command & Conquer Collection' instal
Worker replied to Worker's topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
Cygnus; First, I must apologize for my delay in responding. I did receive your privatemail a little over a week ago, but I wasn't in the best of moods that day (long story, no biggie) and I ended up- in this case, by accident- deleting it. I wasn't at all upset by your mail, though, and I'm sorry if I at all gave that impression. Secondly, I've successfully logged onto XWIS's server a handful of times since we last spoke (thanks again to you and Chickendippers) successfully; haven't played a game yet but that's not far down the road. My username? Sure, give me a sec... it's not Worker; somebody had already taken it... my username on RA2/Yuri/TS/Firestorm is 'Twopaw'. Feel free to give me a pop sometime while we're both on if you want, and thanks as always for your interest! Peace and out! -Worker, overall. -

Confirmed here in Canada as well; the source of all of the C&C games I own are the three C&C Collections I bought a year or two ago. They ran out for a while- had the dudes there check now and then, and they'd thought it'd been discontinued as well- but a whole mess of them (the C&C Collection) showed up about 3 months ago, and AFAIK as of about a month ago there were still several left in-store for $25 Cdn. This one's a bit harder to find- I know of two stores here in Toronto that have carried it recently; I bought the RA1 collection (above) for my brother for an Xmas present last year at one of them, and I think the other one was another outlet of the same chain (Business Depot/Staples) but I could be off a bit. IIRC, the price wasn't more than $20 Cdn. Anyhow, that's my two bits. Peace and out! -Worker, overall. -
Question regarding 'Command & Conquer Collection' instal
Worker replied to Worker's topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
Cygnus X-1, good afternoon! <nod> I took a look around the Forum shortly after posting the message you replied to (and thank you kindly for that ), and in a message a fellow posted asking if anyone still played Tiberian Sun, I found a link (I think Chickendippers posted it) for XWIS. I went to the site and Dled it; it was late last night and my box decided to hang while I was logging onto TS (I _think_ I followed the instructions on XWIS' use correctly...) and it was late enough that a second attempt had to wait 'til today. That will probably happen in the next hour or so. Renegade I wasn't sure about (the servers being up, I mean) but Generals; yeah, I'd imagine since it was quite recent EA would be shooting itself in the foot to cut support only a year or two after releasing it. And I'm glad RA2 and TS are still supported by EA; I may have on the few times I've tried caught their servers temporarily down (and I suspect I've made my share of mistakes in trying to do it properly, too ). In any case, all of this is very welcome news. Thank you kindly for filling me in on the server status, Cygnus X-1, and with any luck I'll be on either the RA2 or TS server sometime today. -Worker, overall. -
Question regarding 'Command & Conquer Collection' instal
Worker replied to Worker's topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
Shawn; I believe I'd attempted to or succeeded in installing Tiberian Sun by that point. I submit that before the C&C Collection, I had no experience whatsoever with the Command & Conquer series, of either vintage (like TS and TD) up to the current day (like Generals, which I don't have as yet). I did have some minimal 3rd-person strategy experience with Starcraft and its expansion, as well as Warcraft 2 (apologies if we're not to speak of the Other Big Company in the Forums). Because of my lack of experience with C&C, I had no reason to suspect installation and play of a C&C title and its expansion (in the case of both Tiberian Sun/Firestorm and Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge) was basically the same as SC and WC. (I do have Warcraft 3 and its expansion, but not the appropriate equipment to run it as of yet.) I believe I installed Firestorm shortly afterwards. Secondly, I have commonly had a very anal-retentive view on processor speed requirements- I generally take them very literally, which has in the past regrettably delayed my playing a given PC game. I only recently attempted to install games such as Diablo 2 (which I'd had since December 2002) and local stocks Red Alert 2 and Yuri's, all three of which I've played (albeit with hiccupy video sequences- but good ones!) someway into as well as skirmishing. I regret that Westwood apparently no longer supports RA2/YR and TS/Firestorm's multiplayer platform servers; I hadn't any chance to give it a shot. I do admit that all of this does sound laughable, Shawn, but I really am quite new at this. Appreciate your patience, in any case. -Worker, overall. -
Question regarding various (?) C&C game timelines.
Worker posted a topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
I think I've chosen the right forum in which to post this message, as I suspect the decisions made concerning the matter which I want to address were made back when Tiberian Sun and RA1 were released, if not beforehand. First, what I do know: 1) Renegade takes place during the era of Tiberian Dawn. (There is or was a MOD that updated it to the Tiberian Sun era, and less relatedly, changed the setting to Red Alert's.) 2) Red Alert 1, 2, Yuri's Revenge and the upcoming Red Alert 3 take place in an alternate past/present to our own that diverged from what we know as history around 1930, with Albert Einstein developing and making use of a time machine rather than or in addition to his work regarding general relativity, and changing the balance of power amongst the world powers of the era. 3) Tiberian Dawn. Tiberian Sun, Renegade and Firestorm take place in a possible future 30-40 years from now. My query is thus: Is Red Alert's present the past of Tiberian Sun/Dawn; i.e., are the two games set in the same timeline at different points, or are the two completely separate entities/universes only associated with one another under the Command & Conquer game platform? Please post me back if you can at all answer my questions. Thanks for your patience with me, and hopefully your responses. -Worker -

Luk3us; coolness. Thanks for getting back to me, and providing the answer to my query. Sonic, unless someone wants to further this thread to any degree, I'm finished with it and you're welcome to dispose of it as you see fit. Peace and out! -Worker -
Question regarding 'Command & Conquer Collection' instal
Worker posted a topic in Command & Conquer / Covert Operations
Heyo! I couldn't find a forum here regarding Tiberian Sun and TS: Firestorm specifically, but I did note a few Tiberian Sun posts here, so I thought this might be a good place to ask this question. (Sonic, my apologies if there is a TS forum but for some reason I missed it when I looked.) With the C&C Collection, you get a list of four serials for use with the games included (RA2 & Yuri's, TS & TS:Firestorm, and Renegade). Note that five games (well, 3 games and 2 expansions, but I digress) are listed. There doesn't appear to be one listed for Tiberian Sun: Firestorm. That probably means that one isn't required- all of the four that are listed are all on one sheet, and if one was required I think such a mistake would make a stink big enough that even a gaming wallflower like me would've known by now. Anyway, I just wanted to ask so I've got it straight- _does_ Firestorm require a serial for installation, or not? Thanks! -Worker -
Yo! Before I ask my question, I need a little clarification here. First- when you say 'cheats', do you mean debugging cheats (as in the Console for Half-Life) or hacks/trainers that modify the code itself? Will check back. Thanks! -Worker, debugged.
