OK, I will try to build RA with my tool then to see what happens. Also, consider working off my Aftermath, Counterstrike, and Original repos for your stand-alone edition. I wasn't quite sure on the proper way to merge everything when I first uploaded it so I left it as is. You should know what do, and git will help you verify you did it right.
-
I agree. How many changes to the mix files do you need to do? Do you know when RA needs an encrypted mix and when a TD-style mix will work fine? I would like to try building RA with my command line mix tool.
-
Also, I think we should move this thread (and Arda) to the command and patch sub-forum, as we clearly are finally getting a definitive fan patch for Red Alert.
-
Ok, will do with the numbering.
-
I'm also importing your stuff from todo.txt into the git issue tracker https://github.com/Ericson2314/CnC-Red-Alert/issues?state=o You skip some numbers sometimes, and duplicate others. Any idea what to do about that?
-
I've updated my fork of your work (https://github.com/Ericson2314/CnC-Red-Alert/commits/foriran). I fixed about 20 NASM warnings, re-committed the missing .inc files, and split the makefile into two to help separate the patch from the patcher as hifi desired. Also, Is extpe used for anything in a normal build? It doesn't look like it.
-
Well did it anyways: https://github.com/Ericson2314/CnC-Red-Alert/commits/foriran you might not like it, but let's say hifi wanted to work on ra1 again. Restarting the version control history in this case defeats the purpose of version control. Also, I noticed you don't have config.inc, imports.inc, and string.in in version control, yet they are needed to build. should I just use hifi's?
-
may I ask how come? and how do you plan on maintaining your stand alone version?
-
Ok, before I set to work, if I were to do a git rebase so it's all one contiguous history would you use it?
-
Iran, do you know which commit of hifi's your patch is based off of? I'd like to go through the history and help organize things.

RA95 demo recording and playback

10 years? It's closer to 20 now! Excellent work Iran. -
In the interest of full disclosure I made a thread about redoing the APB logo with this (with your permission of course) https://www.bluehellproductions.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26280#entry521195 I certainly like it too. What's the highest resolution version you made, or is it vector?
-
Well actually that was more directed at Iran, as its ultimately his choice not mine where he wants to receive bug reports. hyper: I'm now on a screen with better calibrated color and it looks even better!
-
Wow, that's definitely the best remake yet! Now we just got to replace all the old remakes everywhere....
-
Github has a good bug tracker that I highly recommend you use. On a related note I believe you said your git history was a bit messy. If so, I gladly offer to clean it up. If you take this stand alone and use git, I imagine you will get a bunch of pull requests in which case it would probably be useful to have a clean history.

For some reason I thought the white antennae where a TD thing. Thanks guys for clarifying.

Is that the TD mammoth sprite too?

CnCNet - ra3.04 community patch possible?
Sonarpulse replied to r34ch's topic in Red Alert / Counterstrike / Aftermath
Long time no see, r34ch. Yeah Iran, I think you should move your thread to the Command & Patch forum as you are certainly the defacto leader for RA1. Sooner or later I should extend my batch mix-patching tool so it can be used in RA, and then I hope it can be used for its intended purpose building a distribution from the github. -
audio/movies lagging with single CPU affinity on certain multicore PCs
Sonarpulse replied to Iran's topic in Command & Conquer Patch 1.06
.....CnC knows about multithreading? -
Spectacular!
-
Is all of this making it in to your github? I'm busy now with some stuff, but sooner or later I'd love to take a look.
-
All this talk of logos. Would anybody be interested in making a 2D or 3D vector version of the RA logo. None of the remakes are terribly accurate IMO.
-
There come from the counterstrike "funpack" I think. Should be easy enough to get the original uncompressed bitmap. Also, look at the aliasing on the RA logo shadow. Gotta love whatever image editing tool Westwood used.

Excellent!
