Please help with China last mission and chugging.

I'm stuck on the last China mission of Generals. I was just about coping with holding off the swarms of GLA and building my base and collecting supplies when I got scudded and my whole base destroyed. Then my supply trucks got it because I took my eyes off them for a second, then my defensive line broke and they just swarmed in. I think I could deal with it if it wasn't for the scud storm. I tried to send out a little force to scout out it's location but they can't advance at all as the GLA just swarm them.

So I'm going to ask a question that no one apparently asked the guys who wrote this mission... What the hell are you supposed to do?!

 

On a technical side the game absolutely chuggs. I have a 1.7 Mhz cpu and a Geforce 4 Ti4200. Should it be doing this?

Well you realy need a faster processor if yu mean it runs slow... but on the china mission. yeh i done that one youve got to be quick really build lots of airforce bases and use your migs to defend and push forward..

 

i mean cmon the scud storm doesn't really do that much damage.. did you capture the supply depots from the GLA?

The last China mission is especially challenging. From the start, push to the right and destroy the small GLA base except for the supply centre. Be careful as you can easily be wiped out here. Once you have just the supply centre start to build your base, taking care to spread your structures out to minimise the damage of a Scud Storm. Once you are able to, build Black Lotus and have her hack all of the GLA's funds, then capture and sell their supply centre. Build lots of Hackers as well, and move them out of the base so they will be safe unless the GLA targets them with a Scud Storm. For defence, build Overloards and upgrade them with Chain Guns and Speaker Towers. Have about five next to the building on the rightmost side and another five to the left of the road. You would also be wise to build an Airfield and have your Migs bound to a hotkey to guard, as when the GLA send in Scud Launchers they can quickly defend your base. Now we can start concentrating on the attack. Have Lotus search for and capture the Oil Derricks while you build as many Power Plants and Nuclear Missiles as you can afford. When Lotus finds the second GLA Supply Centre, have your nukes clear out the defences and then have Lotus hack their funds, being careful not to be spotted. Once again, when the Supply Centre is empty capture it then sell it. Have Lotus continue up the map and use the nukes to destroy any defences about. The GLA base is at the top of the map. Once you find it have your nukes destroy the Scud Storm first, then any Workers you can find along with the Command Centre and Supply Centre. The GLA will not be able to rebuild, so you can concentrate your efforts on the Barrecks and Arms Dealer. Once you wipe out the base you should be shown where the remaining GLA are. Hunt them down with the method of your choice, as you should have little difficulty having come this far.

 

As for problems with your computer chugging, you will experiance some slowdown problems with all C&C games on the last mission, or on very large maps with a lot going on. But Generals really needs a very powerful system to run it on. You can get away with a Pentium 3 with 128MB of RAM and Nvidia Geforce sound and graphics cards, but ideally the recommended setup is 512MB or higher with the latest sound and graphics cards to prevent slowdown.
