Any way to speed up Zero Hour on LAN?

We had a LAN party on Saturday with 8 players and Zero Hour really sucked. We only played a couple games because the lag was so bad. Is there such a thing as a dedicated server for Zero Hour?

 

Granted, we didn't have a super machine to host, but we all had low detail selected, etc. An AMD 1.7 with 512 RAM shouldn't have been that bad. I guess the best I can think of is to have the host pick spectate or observer mode (assuming you have a spare slot), but I don't know if that will help any.

 

Any tips to speed up gameplay with a large number of players will be greatly appreciated.

There's no dedicated server for any RTS because they are P2P (peer-to-peer) the game runs at the speed of the slowest computer. I can only suggest that you turn the game speed up.

dude just play 2 vs 2s so much more fun, and actually require skill.
