How to link up 2 PCs to play Zero Hour

hi, can anyone tell me how to hook up 2 PCs to play zero hour? each of the PCs has a network card and i have a crossed cable. i thought that as long as i hooked up the 2 machines, the game will autodetect or something but it didnt work. one pc could not "see" the other. do i change the settings (IPs and all that) at the direct connect menu? thanks.

As well as making sure your network settings are correct, you need 2 legal copies of Zero Hour (and 2 CD keys) to play the game over your network.

What OS(s) are you running on both computers?

XP will automatically set everything up for you if you run the network setup wizzard.

hi all, i am running xp home on one and xp pro on the other. quite certain the specs are higher than the recommended (256mb ram, 128mb video ram nvidia/ATI etc).

 

i did not run the network setup wizard. maybe that's why the 2 computers could not see each other (i went to my network places but don't see the other computer name on it). i am going to try that. do i use the direct connect option after that? thanks.
