Generals Refusing update

I am trying to update my copy of Generals from version 1.0 to 1.6 but I keep getting an error saying

 

"Original file not found, A file with the same name was found but its contents do not match. No update was made".

 

This error occurs when trying to update the INI.big file, I have had mods enabled and I have tried replacing the file with a backedup version I kept.

 

Has anyone else encountered this? Do I have to reinstall the game?

 

Any help would be appreciated as it is driving me crazy

Yeah sounds like you need re-install Generals then apply the 1.6 update patch.

 

You should download the full 1.6 update from http://www.cncnz.com/files/generals/patches.shtml since it contains all the previous updates from earlier patches.

Or you can extract it from one of the CAB files on the CDs with WinZip, if you get INI.Big from there it will save you a reinstall.
