C&C Stargate Universe Interview at CnCSaga.de

Recommended Posts

Our friends at CnCSaga.de have posted a new interview with the French mod team making the C&C Stargate Universe mod for Zero Hour. Here's a couple of questions from the interview. Please take note that translations from French and German to English have been done here so some sentence structure is kind of rough.

What can you tell us about your modification?

CnC SGU is above all a tremendous adventure and a work of passionate persons. We’re making the mod both for the SG fans, and because we like what we make: Overcoming the technical and artistic challenges, working as a bonded team and (we hope) meeting the expectations of the community.

The purpose of CnC SGU is to propose a total conversion of Zero Hour, creating a whole new strategy game based on the Stargate franchise (SG-1, Atlantis) which possesses an extremely rich universe but which regrettably has never been adapted in a successful video game.

Are there any problems with the mod or within the team?

The only problems which we've encountered are the technical constraints and the absence of flexibility of the SAGE engine that CnC Generals uses. It sometimes restrains our creativity and forces us to adapt our concepts or to abandon them in the worst case. That said, we already have learned a lot about the functioning and possibilities of the engine and we manage to implement most of the features we want to.

Concerning the team, there is absolutely no problem. We work in a friendly and most professional possible way. The only concern at that level is the lack of staff since we're not finding recruits.
