PurpleGaga27 37 Posted May 4, 2011 As for that question, does anybody know if there's a software program that can protect the BIO?? I remember that even a Lenovo PC has an anti-virus program being installed outside of the OS, meaning it can be run in the bootup and can scan for threats. But that special anti-virus program being put in (Trend Micro PC-Cillin) is too weak to scan for threats unless it's a special Norton anti-virus program. So far I haven't even seen or heard of a Norton program that can scan threats in the bootup process. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 40 Posted May 5, 2011 If you get a boot sector virus, you're pretty much toast. You'll need to format the hard drive and if there is a virus that can infect your BIOS, you'll have to flash it more than likely. As far as I'm aware, the only thing a virus scanner can do is protect the operating system and, provided its sophisticated enough, protect from RAM viruses. Share this post Link to post
