Saracen 16 Posted August 30, 2004 This event took place on August 26th, where the world of Rock & Metal all converged on London for the annual Kerrang Awards 2004. Although I didn't have the money to go (I was offered a ticket for a high price) I heard it was pretty awsome! Anyway one major point to make, (and Sonic will be pleased of this) is that Metallica got the Award for Best band on the planet. I agree it was so richly deserved... 13 albums and an extremely long String of hit music, makes them deserve this award more than any other... Saracen 16 Posted August 31, 2004 Of course not, I was quite pleased with the result.... thing I didn't understand is the System Of A down cam second in the top 50 greatest bands ever! And where did Led Zepplin come? 9th! Yes you heard me right.. To be honest I'm sure they got those 2 the wrong way round... Even more suprising is that Queen came 24th! I was expecting them in the top 10. Iron maiden was 5th, Guns n' Roses were 6th. I'm glad Nirvana only got 3rd... I was seriously dreading them beating Metallica. Thank god they didn't Nirvana were not around long enough to establish themselves. At least Papa Roach was number 50th.. considering they got sacked from their last label Dreamworks records for not selling anymore than over a million records. But that happens to a band that rides the nu-metal metal wave to sell records, they sell big. But then return to their proper rock music style, it makes all the hoodies and depressed rock teens run scared, expecting another nu-metal record. I knew about Papa Roach back in 1997 while they were still underground, 4 years before gaining global recognition. 11 years of formation as a band and they are still holding strong. I'm just waiting for the other 3 albums and 4 demo's they made, when the Underground Anthology comes out Share this post Link to post
Gazdude 0 Posted September 1, 2004 I see The Darkness got best live band again.... But i'm not suprised that Metallica won The Best Band On The Planet as the competition wasn't that great... (apart from the RHCP's) But i dont know why Good Charlotte bothered to turn up again.. After what happened to them last year.... Share this post Link to post
