Ahhhh! I deleted my mod! Must load autosave!

I have been working on my Monty Python in RA2 mod for almost a month now, and I accidently managed to delete all saves and backups and such of it. Naturally, I freaked out... but then I realized that I might be able to load TibEd's autosave, since the last time I worked on the mod I used TibEd with autosave on.

 

So I backed up my TibEd directory so that any autosaves wouldn't be overwritten, and immediatly turned off autosave. I tried to make TibEd crash so that it would load the autosave, but I somehow didn't have any luck. Funny how it always crashes it the worst times, but when you want it to crash, it works fine.

 

So here's my question -

 

How do I load TibEd's autosave? All I have is a backup of my tibed directory, and I'm hoping my mod is in there somewhere...

Uhm, sorry...

I have to disappoint you. TibEd will open your mod as a series of temporary files in your Temp folder (C:WindowsTemp probably) named TIB*.tmp, but if TibEd doesn't crash then these files are removed when TibEd is exited. The idea was that if TibEd crashed, you wouldn't lose your work... but it doesn't keep spare copies.

You could look for TIB*.tmp, but TibEd normally cleans this up...

The feature is auto-recovery, not autosave.

 

AutoSave is present in TibEd 2, but that is not going to help you now. There are undelete tools which can recover deleted files, you know... or perhaps a raw disk editor can be used to search for "TIB1" which every TibEd 1 file starts with. But that assumes the file hasn't been overwritten yet.
