Command & Conquer F2P Beta will be Experimental

Recommended Posts

We still don't know when the big beta test period for the new Command & Conquer - Free to Play will begin, but our community manager, EA_CIRE, has clarified what we can expect to see when it finally arrives. The beta will be a time to experiment, learn, polish and adjust the overall game experience. This is what he posted in a thread on the Official C&C Forums:

I agree for most boxed product games, that the beta is often a last system check and to a certain degree functions as demo. But the beta periods for online services are significantly different in most cases. We want to use the closed beta time to experiment a bit, learn, polish and adjust our overall game experience. So definitely don't expect a finished game in either closed or open beta. Even once we hit our "release", there will be ongoing improvements to the service, content and features as we go. And that is something i really look forward as C&C isn't a good example so far when it comes to after release support.

In Marketing speech: The release of Command & Conquer is not the end, it is just the beginning!

You mean potential right? Yes myself and basically all the other C&C Summit attendees all agreed that the foundations have been laid to make this new C&C one of the best. There is still lots of work to be done though. When the beta does get started its going to be cool to see the reactions from you guys when you finally get to play it. At the summit back in early December we were playing an early alpha build, even at that stage it felt like a C&C game, well a C&C Generals game is a better way to say it I think.

well if you where happy with what you saw back then, because i am sorry the reports was SO huge, and luck of media (no video no pictures, for obvious reasons) i didnt read tehm all :(

its good that you were happy with what you saw, as a developer my self i do understand the alpha stage and i am not gona expect anything crazy from that, just the first feeling, and i aglad to read that you liked it.

lets all hope its going to be one of the best games, i paid for the last release just to get in this beta when ever it comes and i would love to give feedback to make it better.

out of curiosity, based on what you saw how was the FrostBite 2 performing in an RTS game? was it smooth with many units and projectiles on the screen?
