Any way to fix the alt-tab bug in RA2?

Alt-tabbing makes it impossible to get back in game. It simply refuses to re-enter the game. I can't seem to find a way to fix it. I guess it's really not a huge deal, but it's still pretty annoying. I'm on Windows 8.

And there lies my other issue.

 

The -win command isn't working. No matter what I do I just can't get it to run in a window.

To run RA2 and earlier C&C games in windows, you must set your desktop colour to 16-bit.

Not in Windows 8. You can force 16-bit color on a per application basis.

You may always try to play on virtual machine - yeah i know, it's pretty dumb, but it works

I found a solution hover over the window when it pops up then right click and hit restore.
