PurpleGaga27 37 Posted October 4, 2013 This may be old news but when I read this article I was like wow: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/08/23/command-and-conquers-live-service-designed-for-10-year-support-pl/ and http://www.videogamer.com/pc/command_conquer_generals_2/news/the_days_of_boxed_command_and_conquer_titles_are_over_victory.html 10-year support plan? Look at happened to the F2P game of Battleforge, only lasted four years and by the end of this month, it will be shut down for good since EA Phenomic is shut down: http://www.gamespot.com/news/ea-closing-battleforge-6414140 Even I would ask EA, how come older C&C games do not have a 10-year support plan, hmmm? C&C3/KW, Generals/Zero Hour and RA3/Uprising should deserve that. Share this post Link to post
Plok 319 Posted October 5, 2013 No studio that has ever worked on C&C got to work on it for 10 years. Westwood had 9 years (1994 - 2003) EA Pacific / EALA had 7 years (2003 - 2010) EA Phenomic had 2 years (2011 - 2013) Victory Games had 2 years so far (2011 - 2013) If they keep going like this, they'll get that curse on themselves as well Share this post Link to post
Sonic 292 Posted October 5, 2013 Its just a plan. Doesn't mean it will exactly happen that way. Plans can change at any time. And in the game development world there are many factors that can force plans to be rethought. Share this post Link to post
Guest Rabbit Posted October 5, 2013 One example is if this game absolutely bombs. It's not too likely, but if this game were to unfortunately result in failure, and the fanbase is too low, it's perfectly understandable for them to not maintain the service that long. I would hope that they would at least keep the servers up and running so people could play, even if there weren't any updates, but honestly, anything is possible. Share this post Link to post
